No kidding. I always dreaded “The maze” whenever I had to use when I lived up there (1990-1998). They were working on getting the Loma Prieta damage fixed when I was living up there, actually took 6 or 7 years to get it fixed.

Perhaps BART ridership will pickup. I grew up in the Bay Area. I moved away 30 years ago. I still have family in the area.

Now the replacement bridge is being built. Traffic lanes are being switched around all the time, so perhaps local commuters have been "pre-trained".

Here’s a peculiarity about that interchange.

(The following is according to Google Earth.)

If you’re in Oakland westbound on 580, there’s no way to get southbound on 880.
