Me, too. I made the same mistake with Perot, and suffered through the Clintoons as a result. Never again.
I'm a little confused by your reply. Are you saying that Thompson is threatening to run just to make life difficult(or something)for Rudy?
I like Fred, but I don't like how he is twiddling his thumbs. America needs a decisive, take charge, grab 'em by the cojones kind of president. Not declaring when most everyone else has, makes me a tad uneasy about his commitment. I'm paying close attention to Duncan Hunter.
The most liberal Republican, Guilani, is better than the least liberal Democrat, because he will, to some degree, be constrained to please the Conservatives, perhaps in his choice for Veep.
Those flow charts were good, weren’t they???
My guess is that he was surprised by the good reaction he got and is now doiung what he has to do to change the course of his life from being the successor to Paul Hervey to being the successor to George Bush.
"Why I'd throw your fat @ss in Gitmo, Chrissy dear". I probably should step away from the keyboard right about now, hahahaha!
Well lets see who wins the nomination. If it is Rudy, he’d be wise to pick a staunch conservative as VP. I’d vote for my ex husband before I’d throw a bone to Hilly.
Sigh. I was just a kid. A STUPID kid.
Hunter would be a good choice. He’s pretty good in debate and as Californian would also add georgraphic balance. The governor of South Carolina, whose name escapes me for the moment might be an even better choice.
“And Fred Thompson is where on that list? Thats the problem Im having with him. By the time he gets off the darn fence, the primaries will be over.”
I like Fred T. and want him to run, but I too am starting to have some of the same apprehensions. I’m willing to give him May to make his decision, but after that I’ll be inclined to commit to someone else.
I know Fred has a lot of supporters here. I like the guy myself. Imo, he needed to declare a month ago.
Well, he pronably needs to fish or cut bait by the end of May.
My first presidential election that I was old enough to vote for, I got to vote for Reagan. Voted for him twice. It was all downhill from there. Yeah, I was stupid too.
Thanks for the info.
I can’t remember that guy’s name either. I want to see all the candidates debate one another. Lets face it. Purity tests spell disaster.
Fair enough. I’ll wait until mid May, then if he is still on the fence, I’m permanently writing him off.
Relax. Fred has now gone from 8% to 10% to 12% and in the latest*, 17%. He'll get into the debates soon enough, and when he does, he'll be cleaning up. The man can talk. And persuade. He's a 300-lb cannonball.
*Friday's WSJ/NBC poll.
They don’t get Brian Williams as moderator. What an insult?
NBC sees Republicans as back seat candidates.
No it's just that Rudy is disliked by Conservatives. If Rudy falls out in the polls and is not seen as a large threat more persons will go to other choices. IMO Fred is largely being pushed to make certain Rudy is not the GOP primaries winner.
It doesn’t matter how high his approval rating goes if he doesn’t offically declare. Grrrrrr....
Yes, Fred is a masterful speaker, and I like what he has to say. He has many good qualities. I’d personally like to see a Thompson/Hunter ticket.
