Most Members of Congress don't spend a lot of time boning up on the economics of trade. So thanks are due to the U.S.-China Business Council for a report detailing state-by-state exports to China. It makes enlightening reading for anyone on Capitol Hill eager to launch a trans-Pacific tariff war. Populists in America like to badmouth China for flooding the U.S. with what they claim are cheap, job-destroying ...

Manufacturing accounts for only 13.3% of all non-farm payrolls in Minnesota. This alone should temper some of the criticism of "free traders."

As long as China will not engage in “free trade” then they should be liable for the tariffs.

China has stolen military secrets and military tech, and there is no response from our free trade block, I wonder why that is?

Just as Lenin said we’re selling them the rope to hang us...

The free trade bloc will not discuss that factoid, to quote the mobster from the film Casino:

“these guys are all about the dollars”

I’ve been wondering what the opposite of “conscience-free traitor” is . . . “emotional socialist?”

Whenever you need Lenin’s quote to backup your argument, of all subjects, trade and freedom, its time to step back and take a long hard look at which direction you are headed in.

It would akin using Saddam’s words to backup an argument on Human Rights.

Not when the quote is used in context and happens to be true.

In what context was Lenin’s quote true? He’s dead, his form of communism is all but dead, and the Soviet Union is dead.

Really? So China is no longer a communist country and a potential military rival over Taiwan?

The really are not stealing military tech and designs through the vehicle of “Free trade/outsourcing”?

Do tell.

It would akin using Saddam’s words to backup an argument on Human Rights.

Not only that, but places one in the uneviable position of defending Lenin's words on a conservative website.

We impose tariffs on Chinese goods.

Ballpark this figure for me. How many “conservatives” on FR think we have a free trade agreement with China?

gwB once gave a wonderful speech about “imagine if we exported beef to china, that is a huge market..”

So I looked into the Chinese beef market, specifically how much US beef actually WAS exported to china. In a multi billion dollar market, we sent around 23 million dollars worth of beef to china.

China also pays subsidies and keeps the Yuan depressed, to further crush US manufacturing.
