Are Ca. police really that stupid. An SKS is more like a 5 to 10 round internal clip rifle. An ak47 has a larger clip and is external fed. No wonder ca is in such a fix!

Actually, I have a WASR-10 (AK look-alike), with magazines holding from 5 to 75 rounds.

Some people had/have converted SKS carbines to accept detachable magazines.

I'm not familiar with California law, but anyone making this type of modification runs the chance of violating BATF regulations 922r, 922v, the Import ban of 1989, etc.

you can retro fit a larger clip into an SKS... but that still doesn't make it an assault rifle. Referring to this as "The big one is the funny part.

If there were a firearm literate freeper there at the time I think they would have laughed out loud at the suggestion and said something like "The big one?!...Yeah ... woohoo ... good for you guys.... you got the $200 piece of Chinese made crap off the streets ROFLMAO......"

You can buy external clips and a mod kit for an SKS.....

30 round “banana’ clips are not uncommon....

The Norinco SKS-M, SKS-D, and MC-5D models have a detachable magazine and will take the AK-47 30 rounder

Still not an assault rifle, though. For that you need a pistol grip so you can spray fire your bullet hose from the hip.

You are right. However, some models can be converted with a kit to accept an AK mag.
