AIRO, Egypt (AP) - Police have arrested 172 militants who were plotting to attack Saudi Arabia's oil fields, Saudi state television reported Friday, showing video of explosives, ammunition and firearms found buried in the desert.
The Interior Ministry said more than $32.4 million was seized in the operation, one of the largest sweeps against terror cells in the kingdoms.
Al-Ekhbariyah, the Saudi state television network, showed investigators breaking tiled floors with hammers to uncover pipes packed with weapons. In one scene, an official upends a plastic pipe, and bullets and little packets of plastic explosives spill out.
Interior Ministry spokesman Brig. Mansour al-Turki told the rival Al-Arabiya channel that the militants included non-Saudis and that one cell planned to storm a prison and release the inmates.
Just militants doing their thing, right? No problem. So, the Saudis captured a few insurgents, big deal. Where are the insurgents being held? Has the ACLU and Queen Nancy been notified? I’m sure Pukstroski is on her way now with Chuckie, Hitlary, Barf Murtha and Dingy to negotiate a release of the accused. Peace at all costs, right?
Better notify Rosie!
The Saudi’s haven’t figured out that they have nothing to fear from the terrorists. LOL
I hope that their civil rights are not violated.
Rosie already knows that the terrorist are mothers and fathers, so why fear them? /s
Alqaida wants to take out the Saudi oil, and they wouldn’t mind taking out the royal family. Would an airliner attack do actual serious damage to the oil infrastructure? Seems doubtful.
They’ll (the Saudis) just cut beards off of the accused and release them into Iraq.
I wish that they would let us know when they are going to do this.
Hmmm.. seems the Saudi’s only stir their stumps when their oil is threatened....!
If these plotters were uncovered from some AlQaeda and/or their laptops and cell phones captured in Iraq, we would not be told anytime soon.
On their way to flight school as we speak.
How did all those Calvinist Terrorists get into S.A.?
You are right. One really needs to keep an edge which requires a lot of practice.
Yep. Was wondering when we’d start to see wind of this. There will be more to follow I believe, other attempts. All part of Iran’s proxy war efforts.
Their goal is a “Hamas” in Saudi, very difficult because of the good security services of the Kingdom, but nonetheless they will not stop trying.
Well, if it takes something like this to motivate them.... good. I do hope they deal with these terrorists harshly. Set an example.
Good job.
