The Chicago Police Department and the Illinois State Police have teamed up to make good on Mayor Daley's pledge that, if it were up to him, nobody would have a gun. Daley and his elite "CAGE" unit are apparently taking advantage of gun privacy loopholes to pinpoint certain individuals for inclusion in the confiscation program.
The ISRA is following up on leads in one case that has disturbing implications. An elderly first-generation Chicago resident was recently paid a visit by an Illinois State Police trooper. After asking to come inside the man's home, the trooper asked if the man owned a gun - to which he replied yes. The trooper then directed the individual to surrender the firearm. The man complied with the officer's demand and the trooper left with the gun. And the story gets better...
The gun in question was purchased legally by the man in the 1970s shortly after he became a U.S. citizen. When Chicago's infamous gun registration scheme went into effect in the early 1980s, the man registered the firearm as per the requirement. However, over the years, the fellow apparently forgot to re-register the firearm, and forgot to renew his Illinois FOID Card.
So...what does this all mean?
In the last edition of The Illinois Shooter, we reported on the activities of a shady taskforce known as the Chicago Anti Gun Enforcement (CAGE) unit. This elite squad, operated jointly by the Illinois State Police, the Chicago Police Department, and the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, supposedly exists to identify illegal gunrunners. However, information gained by the ISRA makes it clear that the CAGE unit is targeting law-abiding citizens, not criminal gunrunners.
Thanks to a ruling by a liberal federal judge, the CAGE unit now has the name of every single person in the United States who, since 1992, lawfully purchased more than one handgun in the period of a week. The CAGE unit also has all the makes, models and serial numbers of those guns. In essence, the Chicago Police Department is now registering guns and gun owners nationwide.
The ISRA has also learned that the CAGE unit has compiled a list of families where more than one person in that family holds a FOID card. Acting on that information, the CAGE unit is now contacting gun shops where those families have shopped, and is illegally registering all guns purchased by those families.
Now, it appears that the CAGE unit is scrubbing Chicago's gun registration list against the list of FOID card holders. Indications are that folks who have let their registrations and FOIDs lapse will have their guns confiscated. We have to wonder how long it will be until state troopers show up at the doors to confiscate the guns of non-Chicago residents who have let their FOIDs expire.
More later as this story develops.
Just as long as they don’t shoot us right-minded Northerners.
anyone starting a pool on how long before an officer gets shot for doing his duty?
? ... is it his duty to take guns from law abiding citizens?
the old ...” I was just following orders” excuse won’t wash forever.
But you repeat yourself. After the war funding debacle, I really believe that.
i think i should’ve put quotes on the word duty.
The old tried and proved "just following orders" routine? I don't think so. Blackbird.
Notice the raids on the white trash in the south.... nobody seems to have weapons in the Muslim or African American community I guess.
What the gun grabbers fail to realize is that folks like me (law abiding gun owners) don't precisely think of guns as a means to kill but as a means of self-defense. If I wanted to kill someone I wouldn't need, or necessarily prefer, a gun.
Hence the extra duty for their vigorish collectors
Everyone in the United States who is eligible should buy a gun and learn how to use it. This will send a clear message to Democrats and other criminals. The Second Amendment has not been repealed, despite what the socialists in Illinois, Wisconsin and other states are doing.
Even though hell probably read this, I dont care. I have the right to protect myself and my family. One night it may have to be by force.
You over 21?
None of his business.
If he finds out, and doesn't like it: TOUGH!
my $0.02
The other retort is that 7mm mag and 30-06 have better range than M-16's and cop popguns.
TR: Man should have said: Do I have a Gun? Read the second amendment, and get the hell out of my house or Im calling my lawyer to sue your department. ...
I like that but a less confrontational and an effective way to reply would be...
"I sold it about five years ago."
"It was a private transaction."
"I didn't give or get a receipt."
"I don't remember his name."
"I've never seen him again."
"I don't have a record of the serial number."
"Have a nice day, officer."
"Good bye."
Oh great. Just what we need, more people from Chicago.

"The tank, the B-52, the fighter-bomber, the state controlled police and the military are the weapons of dictatorship. The rifle is the weapon of democracy .... If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military, the hired servants of our rulers. Only the government - and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws."
In New Orleans, not a single officer was shot while illegally confiscating legally owned firearms. Some would say that gun owners should have resisted with force, but I would say it shows that citizens showed a higher form of civility and citizenship. The RKBA was strengthened by the way NO gun owners acted, for NO is now used as an example of exactly why the RKBA exists and why it must be protected. Had some officers or citizens died in a dispute over the confiscation, the incident would have just been useful to the gun-grabbers as fodder to prove how dangerous guns and gun owners are.
An elderly woman had a handgun, and members of a swat team were observed taking it away from her by force — and this appears to have been reported in a bad light.
Secondly, it appears that there were several “armed homeowner groups” that the SWAT teams never quite made it to in order to confiscate their guns. I don’t remember this being reported widely, but it appears that it happened.
Does anyone have links to news stories about either of these instances???
Done slowly enough over a long enough period of time, they could make willingness to participate in gun confiscation a criterion for promotion, or for rookie retention
A bad sign would be the recruitment of people willing to confiscate guns from the middle class, from segments of the population which have no particular affinity for the mostly white middle class
Making a false statement to a police officer is itself something they can jail you for.
The best thing you can do when a cop seeks to engage you in a discussion (and he's not your buddy discussing football), is to say "My lawyer's number is xxx-xxx-xxxx, please discuss it with him", and have that be your reply to everything he says from that point on. Except if the question is "may I come in?" or "may we discuss this inside?", where your answer is "No"
Notice many ATF raids on Crips headquarters lately? Neither have I
