Her railing against the harmful pressure on youngsters to bolster their resumes and applications when applying to college made Marilee Jones one of the nations best known deans of admissions.
But the college crusader was forced to quit her prestigious post at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology this week when the school learned she embellished her own resume and lied about her college degrees.
This is a very sad and disappointing story. She really is a quite competent person, a leader in her field, said Chancellor Phil Clay. But this is a case where integrity and honesty trumps everything.
For years, as she spoke at events across the country, Jones claimed various academic achievements and led people to believe that she was a doctor and scientist.
But her world began to unravel last Monday, when her boss, Dean for Undergraduate Education Daniel E. Hastings, got an anonymous phone call from a person raising questions about her own credentials.
MIT officials said Jones, 55, claimed at different times to have degrees from the Albany Medical College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Union College. The school launched a probe and learned Jones didnt have a degree from any of those institutions. When confronted, Jones had the opportunity to say whether she had any college degrees, but gave no new information, Clay said.

What a dolt. That is always the case.
Here is a story in the Dallas morning news about a similar situation. THis person gave herself four awards for writing among other issues...
One more leftist proven to be a fraud.
Like Chomsky and Cornel West..
I thought this was another GAY thread........
She was in that position for how many years? She obviously was doing a good job because she was allowed to stay there all that time. Apparently no one thought to check up on her so called credentials until they got an anonymous call. Maybe a lot more resignations/dismissals are in order.
Won’t she be able to get a job at the Boston Globe, the Biden campaign, or something?
Integrity and honesty have become conditional, too...right along with everything else necessary to character. Thanks Bill! This is totally unfair to everyone in this country who struggles to comply with the educational requirements for employment. I had to jump through my own a$# h)*& for this dinky job I have and she scammed herself into that one like nothing!
Yup. I thought that they were gonna make that law in MASS.
If MIT can’t tell the difference between a college graduate and one who is not without receiving an anonymous tip, then what does that say about the value of a college education these days?
“But this is a case where integrity and honesty trumps everything.
What a dolt. That is always the case.”
Well, not always, but frequently. If a lifeguard pulling you out of water turns out to be a crook and a liar, I’d think it would be possible to overlook it on the occasion.
But did she stay at a Holliday Inn Express last night?

Looking at the links and what they say about her, it looks like she was a good match for the job she was in.
The quality of MIT students deteriorated since this woman took over.
Result: For many of those admitted, PC correctness ruled over knowledge of the Periodic Chart.
Was she a rocket scientist and a brain surgeon too?

"President Vest incorporated all my PC ideas onto the International Space Station."
The paint by the numbers approach to MIT admissions has produced classes of mind-numbed robots. Among my professional colleagues MIT graduates are famous for their lack of creative approaches to problem solving. Want someone to follow a script - hey they are brilliant. Do something that hasn't been done before - look for some kid from a state school who has a bit of personality.
So, just how much of the liberal educational establishment is a fraud and total con job on the American people?
“In September, the American Academy of Pediatrics published a book co-written by Jones called Less Stress, More Success: A New Approach to Guiding Your Teen Through College Admission and Beyond. The academy said yesterday it stands behind the book.”
That should help advance the reputation of medicine.
