EVERYONE GETS LOST SOMETIMES. This does not mean “dementia.” I know elderly people in their eighties and nineties who are sharper mentally than many young people.

I gotta agree with you that everyone gets lost sometimes, but generally find their way back, or call someone. But, to be gone all this times raises red flags. Most elderly people do not have dementia, as you said, but most older people don't take off out of the blue, either. I wonder how much cash they have on them? Or did they start using charge cards? I fear the worst right now, and hope for their safety. Like I said, they could be within a mile of where they left, or many miles away. Or...which I pray didn't happen.

Yes, it raises red flags. According to previous posts, this was a planned trip and they only expected to be gone a short time. They had invited another resident to go shopping at the Carrollton, Kentucky mall with them. Mary Walters did not arrange for anyone to take care of her dog. They did not take luggage. Mary Walters had a limited amount of cash with her. How much cash Ada Wasson had is unknown. They have not used their credit or debit cards.
Today’s Dayton Daily News said Ada Wasson filled her gas tank the night before they left.

Any new news on these two ladies?!?! Just wondering if they let family know they were going? I believe one news article said a daughter of one of them came over 3 days after they left to take her some place and found worried neighbors. So no one missed them for 3 days? In this day and age 2 older women alone, without a cell phone is not safe. Just wondering if they went on other trips like this. I also read them mite of been going to Kentucky for shopping? Is that a day trip? I would think that would take longer than that. One of the ladies left a dog at home with no one to take care of it. Alot of time has gone by, but i hope they find them.

I agree about the cellphones. All elderly people should have them, even just for walking around the neighborhood.

It’s a shame the women were missing for three days before anyone knew of it.

Folks, call your elderly moms, pops, grandparents, aunts and uncles every day. If for an reason you can’t, then pay someone to check on them daily. You owe it to them.

Yes, a cell phone is very important these days. Even if it’s just carried for emergency. At least the police can use the GPS on it to locate someone.
I dont know these 2 women and I’m not sure they informed their family of this trip, but it didnt sound like a trip to the local shopping mall. Maybe they should of went by bus. And yes i agree, you dont have to be old to get lost or have a car break down...so carry a cell phone!!

Their missing made the front page of The Lima News today. Have the major tv networks picked up on it, yet?

The TV stations in Dayton (CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX)are all reporting on it. I don’t know about other areas. Dayton Daily News is reporting it online (I don’t get the printed edition).

No not yet. AP did a story and a story is on Fox’s National News Online but no national broadcast yet.

Everyone please keep up the pressure on the national broadcasters. That in turn motivates the volunteers not to give up and that then keeps the authorities on it.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Department has been great so far.

I didn’t hear that report and I didn’t know that W. Dayton was bad as that.

That info may have been a result of an interview where I said we were moving our search westward because we had done a reasonably good job searching east of I-71. I had said we were moving west TO Dayton and Hamilton. I wasn’t thinking of the West Dayton area specifically.

I have been contemplating West Carrollton, OH. Anyone know of an outlet mall in West Carrollton?

There is no mall in West Carrollton. No large stores either.

Mary Walters looks familiar to me. I mentioned it to a neighbor and she agreed. Neither of us can remember where or when we may have seen or talked to her. We have not seen her since she disappeared. We both live in Moraine off of route 741.

Could she have gone to the Walmart on 741 or the stores (routes 725 and 741) around the Dayton Mall (I think someone said they had searched the Dayton Mall)? Also, there is a super Walmart in Moraine (corner of South Dixie and Dorothy Lane). These are high traffic roads; but, if they were used to shopping there, this may not have bothered them.

Another idea, could they have gone shopping for flowers (hanging baskets, annuals for on a patio, etc.). If so, did they have a favorite nursery they usually went to? Many of these nurseries are in more rural area.

I am here in central Ky, Georgetown to be exact. Our local newspaper has picked up the story, front page. So have all 3 of our local news shows(ch. 18,27,36). Likewise, I have emailed out the information to all my friends, church members, and fellow moms. As a side note, these gals are in our prayers. I homeschool and during our devotion time, my 2 sons and I keep them in our prayers. They have seen the photos and know they are missing. My youngest son calls them (affectionately), the “grandmas”. I know all our prayers are heard.

I don’t know if you have tried this or not, but my suggestion would be to contact any major trucking companies in your area (or who go through your area) Most of them would be happy to send out information to their drivers to aid in the search. I used to work with a company called Jones Motor Group in Pa, they have 4 trucking companies and thousands of trucks on the road, most of them out on your side of the country.

Prayers from Washington State!!

Excellent idea 13; have you considered getting the truckers in on this brad? And Cindys cousins idea; the high school kids in the area you are searching know the area better than anyone. Other than these ideas, I cant believe the garbage Im hearing from some of you people; Our close friends are gone and your venting your racism here? No, west dayton is not that bad Brad, I have friends there. More likely scenerio: Otterbein is surrounded by white-trash; some meth-heads may have robbed or car jacked them for their next fix. Ive even checked the nearby trailer parks for their car.

And no they didnt have a cell phone; should have, didnt- stop rubbing in our face.

Brad didn’t post the comment about west Dayton. I did and I have friends there too. Yes, they are black and I am white. They don’t like the crime either. The only RACISM was posted by you. There are many crimes reported on Hoover Avenue, Home Avenue, Gettysburg, in the Westown Shopping Center, etc. I did not mean to imply blacks were waging a war against whites; however, when I have had to drive through there some blacks have let me know I was unwelcome there. I was describing why these women would not be there (same reasons why I avoid the area). There are as many blacks who resent whites as whites who resent blacks. If these women were black, I would still be looking for them. I have not forgotten Niqui McCown or Rilya Wilson. East Dayton really isn’t much better. Years ago blacks settled primarily on the western side of Dayton and whites on the eastern side. That is history. Also, west Dayton once had elegant theatres, fine homes, and many businesses. Roosevelt was probably the finest school in Dayton. The city let it run down.

If a black family bought the house next to me, I would treat them the same as any new neighbor. I would be glad to have any considerate and responsible neighbor.

Now can we get back to the correct topic. We have two elderly women missing.

And, thank you for joining the search.

Don’t know who you are but this is for constructive comments, not flames.

Truckers were contacted on day 4 of the diappearance.

Otterbein is in a rather nice area. Point out the locations for “meth-heads” and we’ll search them again.

No, they didn’t have a cell phone but it certainly isn’t your face that matters as you are unconnected to the family and the situation.

I apologize to you Brad, my comments were directed toward shrinking violet(yes, Violet I know Brad did not write the comments about West Dayton, he said he didn’t realize it was that bad). And I’m tired of people pointing out that they “should” have had cell phones. Again, I apologize; those of us involved are not happy campers, and it is inconceivable to any of us of what the immediate family is going through.

I hope I’m wrong, but my initial and current theory is that something criminal has occurred, and probably close by. There are no specific areas to point out; the welfare class is spread out all around Warren and Butler counties. Ill check the website and post where Ive been if I can,I know most of the search has been centered around the racetrack. Perhaps that is why we cant find the car- it is in a garage surrounded by other old cars up on cinder blocks! Yes, Otterbien is a nice area, but you don’t have to go far (ie: Shadow Hill trailer park- first place I looked)

That being said however, does give some hope that they are still being taken care of in some way. Odder things have happened.

I never said anything about cell phones.

Also, I object to being harassed and called a RACIST for providing a true description of an area. I have nothing more to say to you. MOVE ON!
