The Massachusetts Institute of Technology said Thursday that admissions dean Marilee Jones — a crusader for reducing the anxiety around college admissions — has resigned for misrepresenting her academic credentials to the university.

Jones, dean since 1997, has been a highly visible campaigner for reforming the college admissions process. She issued a statement saying she had misrepresented her credentials when she first came to work at MIT 28 years ago and "did not have the courage to correct my resume when I applied for my current job or at any time since.

She should simply apply to the University of Colorado. They don’t care whether or not you’ve got any real degrees - at least in the liberal arts departments (think Ward Churchill). He’s a fake in every way. He’s still there. At least this lady appears to have done creditable work for quite a few years. Much, much ahead of Churchill who is a glittering jewel of collosal ignorance.

My daughter has a friend who has a degree in “Women’s Studies”, aka, the “resume stain”. Definitively omit (or blur) this detail when applying for a job in the real world.

Courage?

More gobblygook speak!!

Her choosing to blame her dishonesty on a lack of courage is telling.

Liberals think cowardice is perfectly acceptable and normal.

Courage is a dangerous character trait. It leads to doing the right thing.

Rolling Stone ran ads for college degrees. Wonder if they still do? She might have gotten her degree there!

Dean of Undergraduate Education Daniel Hastings announced Jones' resignation in an e-mail to MIT.

"This is a sad and unfortunate event," he said. "But the integrity of the Institute is our highest priority, and we cannot tolerate this kind of behavior."

which kind of behavior ? outing ones self to the detriment of the school ?

we don't bother with the background check and we'll tolerate it until you get caught.

Don't worry, your rep is still safe among the professional card counters.

The real suckers were the candidates for the job that didn’t “Jason Blair” their resume.

It’s sort of ironic. She’s been doing great job of trying to calm down the college admissions process, which has gotten so ludicrous that many parents start obsessing over their kids’ resumes when applying to preschool, and by the time the kids are in middle school, a lot of them are joining in the obsession, thinking they have to have some sky high grade point average and piles of extracurricular accomplishments (even though they may not care a whit about any of the activities) because if they don’t have all this stuff they won’t get into big-name college, and if they don’t get into a big-name college their lives will be a tragic waste. I’m sure the only reason she put fake stuff on her resume is that, no matter how well-qualified she may have been for her initial job, she wouldn’t have even gotten and interview, much less hired, if her resume didn’t carry the credential of a college degree. All our institutions — academic, government, private business — should focus on people’s real ability, skills, and willingness to do a job, rather than paper credentials. I’m afraid the main reason this is hardly ever the case anymore, is the insane body of law that has built up to ban “discrimination”. Only specific credentials can reliably be used to defend against discrimination suits, e.g. “We didn’t hire applicant A over applicant B because applicant A was white, but because applicant A had a master’s degree and applicant B only had a bachelor’s degree.” Explaining that a less/non-degreed applicant just seemed more energetic and more enthusiastic about the specifics of the job, is a ticket to losing in court and facing a huge damage award.

I have thought of this lately. Maybe business’ should pull the employee records and do an audit of their degrees.

"did not have the courage to correct my resume when I applied for my current job or at any time since.

Warning Will Robinson! Warning!

Buzzword "Courage" has been invoked by a liberal.

Can professional and personal "outing" be far behind?

Unlike a certain Governor of New Jersey cruising rest stop men's rooms, was the Dean cruising women's rooms in Filene's?

When she was hired the AA pool was so small that MIT let this slide to get the right oppressed candidate. She was Dean of Admissions for goodness sakes, this means she was also trusted with all Student Records and degree verifications...wow what a stain for another Leftard University admin...they all need an investigation and a fumigation.

She probably has no degree but claiming she had 3.....MIT spokeswoman Patti Richards said Jones has at various times claimed to have degrees from Union College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the Albany Medical College. But Richards had no immediate information on what degrees Jones actually has or how the matter was uncovered.
Jason Gorss, a spokesman for RPI, said Jones attended that university as a part-time, non-matriculating student from September 1974 until June 1975 but did not receive a degree. Messages left for officials at the other two schools were not immediately returned

Ah, yes. The specialty of my alma matter, UMass. The only bigger pile of crap than "Womyns' Studies" is "Victims' Studies."
