This Is Counterterrorism, Senator ~~ (Positive news from IRAQ...why Harry Reid is worried....)

Malik Daoud and Sheikh Abdul Sattar vs. al Qaeda in Iraq.

By Steve Schippert

Can Petraeus pull it off? Max Boot asks the question, in the latest Weekly Standard, in an article by that name. Certain American political leaders profess already to know the answer; they almost surely had their preconceived answer even when they were unanimously voting to confirm General David Petraeus as the new Multi-National Forces - Iraq commanding general.

Only last week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid proclaimed that the current mission in Iraq was “lost.” He then couched his words by adding that the war “can only be won diplomatically, politically, and economically.” Senator Charles Schumer came swiftly to Reid’s defense, attempting to clarify by adding that the war would not be lost “if we change our mission and focus it more narrowly on counterterrorism, going after an al Qaeda camps that might arise in Iraq.”

Improvement in Anbar
In Ramadi, Boot observes dramatic improvement. The capital city of Anbar province “used to see 20 to 25 attacks a day, [but] now sees an average of 2 to 4 a day—and falling.” In fact, Boot continues, “Entire days go by without a single attack.” He also soberly notes that, while Ramadi has improved immensely, “U.S. generals now say that Baqubah has displaced Ramadi as the worst place in the entire country.” Al Qaeda in Iraq has shifted its terrorist anchor from the city of Ramadi and Anbar province to the city of Baqubah and Diyala province north of Baghdad.

"...Malik Daoud..refers to General David Patreaus"

"Malik Daoud" is Arabic for "King David".

I remember the constant barrages and withering fire from the MSM, and since that was before Rush and the internet. I don't remember anything from the White House neutralizing the constant electronic and print war on Reagan or anyone else besides a few of us with voices in the wilderness.

This hit piece cover and story by Slime magazine was typical of what we saw then with no Fox News, Free Republic or Rush.

GWB will travel to Iraq and be greeting by cheering crowds and cheering US troops.

...proving yet once more that ACTIONS speak thunderously louder than WORDS!

And words (Slander, Lies, Insult) is all that the Left have in their arsenal!

Sattar said recently, “The time for dictatorship is gone, and we are welcoming the new dawn of democracy and freedom here.”

Didn’t I see this on the front page of the NY Times?
(do I really need a sarcasm tag?)

That's right! I forgot about the biggest full court press with Jim Wright and the gang trying to help "Dear Commandante" spread Communism all over Central America at Reagan's expense!!!

You are absolutely right that we should never lose sight of how ugly the Dems are in their constant desire to leave America on the defensive, yes even delighting in risking humiliation and defeat just like they forced on weakling Gerald R. Ford after staging a coup against R.M.N!!!

There is no way to justify or redeem the Dems from their pigheadedness toward their own national identity! I'll tell ya one final thing... Harry Reid sure ain't no Harry Truman!!!

I cancelled every so called news mag subscription I had during the Reagan years. The real vicious attacks begin during his second election and after he was elected. The escalation of lies and attempts to remove him from power seem to be the blueprint of the rats to get rid of GW during his second election and post re election.

Outhere in LaLa land, the Gay Rhonicle, Sac Bee, San Jose Jerkury and the LA Slimes lied and attacked Ronald when he was governor on a non stop basis.

Well, it's a pattern that started with Nixon in his second term, where they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams in getting him to step down. Yes, then again they tried with Reagan in his second term, then they got lucky with Bush I when he looked at his watch during one of the dumbest debates I've ever seen. And finally, now with Bush II where they're pickin off his top people one by one and perilously politicizing our establishing two new beach-heads in the mid-east to stabilize the oil patch!!!

You just can't top the Dems for dogged persistence and determination at trying to force Commonism on America in the most extreme and hateful ways. The MSM helps them tremendously in their elitist efforts to fool ya, so they can rule ya!

My question remains... When are we gonna git a Republican with the stamina to stop this endless loop of second-term snatching defeat from the jaws of victory? When dammit??? This "political judo" and "resting on our laurels" crappola has simply got to stop!!!
