Our school gets tagged almost every weekend. Every Monday morning the custodians have to repaint.

...because it was a beautiful part of OUR America. Either we figure out a way to take it back, or it is lost forever. Although, our conservative pols will do nothing to help.

Aren’t there bounties paid for catching and convicting grafitti artists in LA? I thought I remembered reading an article a few years back about a security guard videotaping about 300 grafitti artists for a $1000 bounty each upon their conviction.

Think that’s a VW rabbit, but they really did capture that “on the Freeway” look.

i know of a business in the LA basin that was looking at buying an unoccupied and heavily ‘tagged’ building that was told by a ‘community activist’ that any attempts to repaint would be seen as interfering with the first amendment rights of the neighborhood and would not be tolerated. Lawsuits and media coverage were promised. The business passed on the build and several years late the building is till unoccupied.

As you know, spray paint is now a “controlled substance” in LA county— you have to be an adult to buy it and it’s stored in a locked cabinet. A lot of good that’s done. Reminds me of another legal product that’s been made “harder” to get...

My wife taught at Jefferson in South Central for years. It broke our hearts how fast the place got trashed. I spent several weekends and a lot of $$$ trying to make that school and her classroom a place of sanctuary and beauty.
After a while we both just didn’t give a damn anymore.
My wife quit to become a stay-at-home mom and we’ve never looked back.
Perhaps, nothing will change until the punishment for vandalism is so heinous that the vandals honestly think twice.
Public caning followed by hard labor?

Does anyone else remember that case of that guy in Hong Kong who was caned for vandalism? Liberals here were horrified that someone would be BEATEN for simply vandalizing a few cars.
I thought it was great.
