Boeing's Large Cargo Freighter known as the Dreamlifter made its inaugural delivery to Everett Tuesday evening. Flying from Italy with the first horizontal stabilizer for the 787 in its huge belly, the Dreamlifter landed at Paine Field about 6:30 p.m., and over the next few hours Boeing workers carefully removed the precious cargo.
Final assembly at the Everett plant of the first 787 will start next month once all the major 787 sections have arrived via the Dreamlifter.
Check out the photo gallery of this historic first delivery by P-I photographer Joshua Trujillo.

By all means check the
PHOTO GALLERY # 15 shows the latches/locks that look like a 'clevis' device and is that green projecting bar below the crewman a locating/indexing/rudder-torque-resistor dohickey?

They don't give us a shot of the hinges yet.

Did the FAA ever clear the Dreamlifter for flight? Or does is it still flying under temporary authority?

Did the FAA ever clear the Dreamlifter for flight? Or does is it still flying under temporary authority? I have no idea.

Not a good idea. The cargo bay is not pressurized.

If God gave the word, that won’t matter.

I wonder if the engineers who designed that aircraft were on it’s maiden flight?

In the paper it said the worker’s name for the loader a “DBL” for “Darn” Big Loader!
And - anyone know the symbology of the crescent on the side of the plane?

I'll answer my own question - the Dreamlifter hasn't been certified yet. According to the very interesting
Seattle P-I article on today's Dreamlifter landing at Everett, an FAA inspector was on board because these flights are serving as test flights during the certification process.

the Dreamlifter hasn't been certified yet. Probably flying under a "special airworthiness" certificate, IOW, "Experimental"....

That was part of the 787’s original logo as well, since it’s named the “Dreamliner”.
The 777-200LR, by the way, is the “Worldliner.” I don’t know what the 747-8 will be when they build it...maybe the “Hey-A380-Who’s-Your-Daddyliner.”

Well, this I know for certain: The 787-8i has the letter "i" after the eight because it is named [drumroll please]......
Intercontinental.
(a very cool name which was abig aviation buzzword in tha days of the Super Connies, B707' and DC-8's)
