WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Rep. Duncan Hunter called Wednesday for Sen. Harry Reid to resign his post as Senate majority leader over remarks that the senator made last week that the war in Iraq "is lost" if the United States continues on its current policy.
Hunter, a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, is the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee.
"In my opinion Sen. Reid, having made that statement, which can only have a demoralizing effect on our troops and an effect of encouragement of the adversary, I think it would be appropriate for Sen. Reid to resign his position as the leader of the United States Senate," he said.

“Just got off the phone with my Senators office and told him to stand up and say he wants Dirty Harry to resign.”
Fantastic! Keep the heat on, and the kudos for those that are standing up! It is important that the Republicans that supported the Senate bill hear America’s outrage. The battle has just begun.
HEAR HEAR!!!
Down with Tokyo Rosie and down with Scarry Ried!!!
here is why:
Maqtada Al Sadr (terrorist in Iraq) is calling for Maliki (President of Iraq) to set a time line for US withdraw.
Well, so is Peloser a lot of other Demorats and a few Republicans. They all need to step down.
They are traitors. And if they don’t like being called a traitor, then don’t give me a reason to do so.
“Cheney ripped him a new one. But from the congress, only Hunter.”
Thanks. My point was that not many have said anything strong against Reid’s statement, yet one of the 2 who did was being criticized for not saying something accurate enough, while not a word was said about all those who said nothing at all about Reid’s “war is lost” comment.
“This may not be what you are looking for, but it is all I have at my finger tips.”
Thank you.
Thanks for the links. I agree with Romney on this issue.
Also Senator Inhofe called on Reid to step down......’’Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid should be recalled by voters over his “un-American remarks about the Iraq war, Sen. James Inhofe declared.
Speaking with NewsMax pundit Steve Malzberg on “Bill Bennetts Morning in America radio program Wednesday morning, Inhofe, an Oklahoma Republican, expressed outrage over Reids criticism of the Bush administrations Iraq policy, his call for a timetable for withdrawal and his assertion that the Iraq war is “lost.
Asked if the Nevada Democrat should resign from his leadership position because of his comments, Inhofe said: “I think its more serious than that. I think there should be a recall . . . for saying something as un-American as that.
He also said: “But it would have to emanate from the people who elected him.
“I cant imagine that something isnt going to happen.
Yeah, baby!
That shows exactly why Hunter NEEDS to be the next GOP nominee and the next President. You need to post those quotes every Hunter thread. That is the essense of Duncan Hunter and what makes him the best. Fred Thompson may be an acceptable conservative but he clearly has nothing on Hunter. We don’t need another ho hum Republican and Thompson was rather sedate as Senator. It’s time we get leadership like we would from Hunter. He’s what most have been whining about-for Republicans to finally stand up and tell the Demonrats where they can go. Hunter is the man.
This is typical Hunter. He is a rarity for a Republican.
Carolyn
in any other time he would have been hanged!!
Here is what the Dems in the Senate have to say about Harry Reid.....

Thanks for posting this. Bump for Duncan Hunter, the real deal.
I like hanged.
They don’t give a damn about why we are mad. We’ve been yelling it at them, pleading with them, writing to them and praying for years.
They keep asking because the want you to think they do. They have every intention of going on with business as usual.
A revolution is the only cure.
You are so right. My little bit of bravado was just my frustration. I know they don’t care.
So how do we start a revolution?
We have to get as unified and focused as the demrats, not as immoral of course, just focused.
RR’s 11th commandment was not to speak ill in public of another Republican. That is a commandment that our folks ignore constantly. The Chuck Hagels, Specters McCains of the world think nothing of trashing the president and his staff. That must cease.
Breaking ranks in public is a very very bad thing. The punishment within the Senate and House etc. should make the members terrified.
We see our dedication to principle and logic as the great thing it is, unfortunately, it is exploited as a weakness.
We can’t have a revolution with a “pragmatist” at the helm, either. That doesn’t mean to me that we can’t have compromise, but compromise doesn’t mean giving up principles.
Sorry for the essay.
