Former senator, commentator and actor Fred Thompson will provide regular opinion and analysis on ABCRadio.com. The network says the Fred Thompson Report will discuss issues and events that affect all Americans. Audio versions of many of the commentaries will also be made available on ABCRadio.com.
The Internet allows as never before a real dialogue among the American people. There has never been a more important time in recent history to be informed as a nation, and my hope is that my daily commentary will contribute to that discussion, said Thompson. Im looking forward to using the medium to its fullest.
There is a clear demand to hear from Senator Thompson. Its obvious that listeners, if not America, seek his leadership on issues that matter. Radio has already provided an excellent platform to inform and educate listeners seeking his opinionthe Fred Thompson Report is another extension to deliver his respected opinion, said John McConnell, SVP/Programming, ABC Radio Networks.
Thompson, a former Republican Senator from Tennessee is well known for his current television role on NBCs Law & Order. For the past year, Thompson has been working with ABC News Radio as a Special Program Host and Senior Analyst, hosting special reports and doing vacation fill-in for Paul Harvey.
I know what it’s like to be on the receiving end of accusations against me that were not true at all. Perhaps it is difficult for some people to handle hearing other points of views that do not agree with their own. I don’t. :)
I am as adament as you in stopping unfair and false attacks on any of the candidates. When alerted to them I do my best to dispell the falsehoods no matter who is spreading them or about whom.
Fantastic — he said he was going to campaign unconventionally, and this sounds like part of that. Daily reporting also doesn’t sound very lazy to me! :)
Thanks for posting this.
Well I am not really dissenting since my support for Rudy is only because I see great leadership qualities in him and no real alternative to him. My candidates were wiped out last fall.
But I like to set the record straight and do not avoid subjects where I know I will be in the minority. Some times I learn more from those threads than any other.
Only a few occasions has hatred seemed to get the upper hand with some posters here and too many have succumbed of late.
I've seen some posters on DU posting begrudgingly respectful things about Thompson. His biggest strength is that he's so genuine that he appeals to even people who don't necessarily agree with him.
And don't get me wrong, I have been the first to call BS on misleading Fred threads posted by other people who truly are petrified of having a conservative nominee. That doesn't mean that it's unrealistic for Thompson to be the "silver medal" for some Rudy people, especially those driven primarily by pragmatism. This should be welcomed, not bashed.
You have serious problem with reality on this forum.
JimRob is the guy who bans liberals, misfits and malcontents around FR. Not me.
Peach has been trashing a great conservative icon named Ronald Reagan for years on FR. She finally got caught, IMO by her own design in pushing the envelope on that issue and other issues. Not my fault. That was her fault. Breaking the basic groundrules of FR doesn’t sit well with you know who.
I'm not a Rudy supporter and do believe that is the view of many of us on here. I don't mind speaking up to agree with you.
>>>>>I agree with the other poster, you ought to chill a bit.
Let me remind you:
How many times must I say FR is a conservative site? We do not support abortionism, homosexualism, feminisim, environmentalism, gun control, liberalism, socialism, etc, etc, etc. When I say I suspect we will become even more conservative than we already are, possibly via attrition if nothing else, what do you think Im referring to? When FR starts pushing hard and I mean hard against abortion, gay marriage, homosexual education forced on our school children, pandering to illegal aliens, gun control, McCaine-Feingold type usurpation, global warming, etc, etc, even if supported or advanced by the GOP, then I fully suspect certain types of moderate/liberal Republican supporters are probably going to be a little uncomfortable here. We will be fighting for traditional American conservatism no matter who we have to fight against and Im afraid thats going to piss off some folks.

I'm just pushing back hard.
Then I guess I misunderstood the “no dissent”. As the campaign progresses, you will see some pretty hardened factions forming for various candidates. The one common theme now for the majority of freepers is that Rudy lose. Hence the avalanche of criticism for Rudy supporters. It would be similar if I went to the Log Cabin Pubbie website and promoted Hunter, the most anti-gay agenda candidate running. I’d expect to be attacked.
Fact is, I've had a bad tase in my mouth over all the pro-Rudy and pro-liberal crapola for quite some time now.
I'm pushing back hard.
Just not as nearly hard as Jim`s been pushing back.
My problems with Rudy come from his changing not just some of his positions, but most of them. Whether its a real conversion or one of convenience I don't know, but I'm wary. Now it is not wrong to have an epiphany (I was a rabid environmentalist 30 years ago!), but to have such a complete change of heart is, well, inconsistent with human nature.
I agree 100%. Search, for example, for some of my replies to the crap FairOpinion would post. I think some of the boting done around here this week was way overdue, particular that of mojodungbeetlehonsamhill. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I simply don't include a51 amongst this group. Maybe I'm wrong, but I get the feeling that she'd be 100% behind Thompson if he's the nominee.
I just saw Fred Thompson in his role as the Dulles Airport Administrator in the movie “Die Hard 2” with Bruce Willis.
At this point I only have the posting evidence of the last eight months or so to go by. That proof doesn't look good for A51. Sorry.
Let me modify my statement above. He's not so much changed his postions, but has said he will act contrary to those positons, like judges. He is not against abortion but says he will appoint judges who are conservative. The position is inconsistent.
SORRY TO BURST YOUR DROOLING LITTLE BUBBLE BUT... If Fred is the nominee he gets my vote and my donation to his campaign. Now if you have a urge to look for the truth instead of spewing venom about me left and right on this thread maybe you would do a search and see that I have consistently said that whomever is the nominee gets my full support. But apparently that is not good enough for you. Maybe you would like it in BLOOD?
FDT stock dropping at Tradesports...
Someone, toss us a line here!
You've been running around this forum since last August --- when i first noticed you --- proudly displaying yourself as the #1 RudyBooster on FR. You've posted more pro-Rudy threads then anyone. That means who've been spewing liberalism on FR for the last eight months! Now conservative Freepers are holding you to account and you don't like it. Well, too bad. Stop your whining, that somehow you're being mistreated and picked on is pathetic.
You ask for it.
YOU ARE FAIR GAME!
You’re making a total fool of yourself and soiling Reagan’s name in the process. Reagan never spoke ill of other Republicans regardless of who they were and warned others to refrain from it. You are no Reagan Man.
And yet areafiftyone is still with us. Perhaps you should take a cue about restraint from that fact. If Jim doesn't see fit to impose a ban or suspension, then you should respect his decision. Your energy would be better served going after Guiliani himself, not other FR posters.
