"Our network operates at less than half of capacity (over seven days) and we must make significant changes to remain competitive," Hershey spokesman Kirk Saville said.

IOW, these (unionized) workers cost the company more in pay then they turn out in work.

Fact or Opinion? I assume, without looking (but I will take time to track it down), that it's opinion. I doubt very seriously that Hershey has not turned a profit. Even in spite of the Union wages and benefits. Did they not recently buy out Mars candies? I guess they did this with those opined non-profits? More likely, Hershey suffers from the same deadly sin as most other un-American corporations, GREED! Don't forget to thank a FRee to be Traitor. Blackbird.

Yep, those poor Hershey execs can be found here "lamenting" their poor old bottom line:

An excerpt: First-Quarter Performance "Results for the first quarter were essentially in-line with our expectations," said Richard H. Lenny, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Net sales increased 1.2 percent, as we're building momentum behind our new products and continue to benefit from the growth in dark chocolate. Seasons and a rebound in Canada provided additional growth during the quarter. However, growth was adversely affected by slower single serve sales. This is being driven in part by marketplace performance that has not yet achieved desired levels. While we did experience an improvement in core brand takeaway, the residual impact of last year's limited editions and discontinued items resulted in only a 1.5 percent increase in measured takeaway. The price increase announced on April 4, 2007, had no impact during the quarter.

For those who think Hershey should raise their prices offshoring production, please note the last line bolded. They did increase prices, but are still going to do this. FRee to be Traitors rejoice the double whammy! Blackbird.
