The Nanny Staters aren’t going to like this one
Right - am familiar with the books that he talks about - “Boys Book Of _____”; they were excellent, but clearly in this litigious age I had assumed that they disappeared for that reason alone. They were just as much fun to read and improved vocabulary, even if I couldn’t score any sodium thiosulfate or litmus paper necessarily. Electronics kits and the like were probably the best of all. Dry cells, magnet wire, vacuum tubes and a kid was “on the air”.
I vaguely remember separating phenothailine (sp) from a box of ex-lax or the like to be used for chemistry experiments. And mercury from Merthiolate(tm) which I am sure it has been banned by now. Now that was a rite of passage as a kid - learned not to stub my toe anymore because the orange stuff hurt worse!!
WHO BLOODY WELL GIVES A PROFANITY DELETED ???
