A human being is a miniature world. Saving countless innocent lives is a mitzvah in my book. In the Torah, the word "murder" in Hebrew is in the plural because the murderer not only takes one life; he snuffs out all the descendants the victim might have had. To stop a would be murderer with lethal force is a righteous deed.
