Iraq withdrawal would humiliate US, says PM
The Australian ^ | 24th April 2007

PRIME Minister John Howard said today one reason he won't withdraw Australian troops from Iraq was because it would humiliate the United States.

Two Australian soldiers were injured in southern Iraq yesterday when a roadside bomb exploded as their light armoured vehicle passed by.

Mr Howard did not comment on the incident today.

But he said America's power and support was important for Australian security and he would not support a policy that weakened it.

It would be a “colossal blow to American prestige in the Middle East and around the world” if the coalition pulled out of Iraq and appeared to have lost the war, he said.

“There is nothing in it for Australia in seeing America humiliated in the Middle East,” he told ABC Radio.

“And that's the effect of calling for Australian withdrawal, because if it's OK for us to go why isn't it OK for the Americans and the British to go?”

Mr Howard said history made it clear that American power and support was very important to Australia's security.

“I'm simply not going to support a policy that leads the humiliation, the withdrawal and the weakening of American power and prestige around the world,” he said.

“That would give great power to terrorists.”

It is much more than humiliation. The consequences of withdrawing from Iraq in defeat and before we crush the terrorists there will be worst than any imaginable nightmare not just on the Iraqis, not just on the Middle East, but also and mainly on us and the whole Western world.

Reid said it would show the ones who are on the ‘fence of being terrorist’
how nice we really were, and they would join us instead.

Liberal American democrats cant be humiliated. They rather lose a war than see Bush succeed.....and the military too. So deep is their hatred of both.

Do you think so muawiyah? I hope that this is not going to happen but surrendering in this war will be the worst mistake in history of the United States. There is a bunch of traitors in Congress and their media working to cause us the worst disaster in history and plunging the whole world in a new dark age controlled by islamic terrorism.

Sometimes I wonder how can some people in the greatest nation in history reach this level of hatred so that they are willing to destroy the whole nation just to see the President defeated.

It’s quite simple ~ drugs. People like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, and their running dog lackeys, can be explained only by referring to the sort of brain damage engendered by use of cocaine, heroin and various psychoactive drugs.
