UNITED NATIONS, (AP) --
Zalmay Khalilzad started his new job Monday as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, with one ambassador on the Security Council saying he 'can't be as bad' as his controversial predecessor John Bolton.
Khalilzad was confirmed by the Senate on March 29 by unanimous voice vote to replace Bolton, whose nomination by President Bush sparked a bruising Senate debate. Bolton resigned in December, weeks before his recess appointment was to expire.
When asked about Khalilzad as he headed into a Security Council meeting Monday, South Africa's U.N. Ambassador Dumisani Kumalo said with a smile, "He can't be as bad as Bolton."

when Bush made the recess appointments recently he should have re-upped Bolton....
Whenever The Modesto Bee has an article about Khalilzad, they always make reference to the fact that he spent a year of his high school days as a foreign exchange student at Ceres (CA) High School.
I give up. Game over. Go home. Can’t deal with this.
“as bad as Bolton” = “a patriotic American who sees through the UN’s agenda of America and Israel hating, terrorist coddling, bureaucratic corruption and cronyism, and blue helmeted child rapists running rampant in Africa”.

I did some searching, and here's a somewhat interesting piece by Ambassador Khalilzad from back in 1995:

I am acquainted with Ceres. I have been to Ceres. Just this past year, in fact.
Most of the time, I like most, pass Ceres. Highway 99 goes right through it and it is barely noticed.
Talk about poor! Rio Linda is several steps up.
Ceres does have a Home Depot. Lots of “guest” workers hanging around.
Rush Limbaugh was never in Ceres!
