A 1000 feet?

It would have to be a gas main to do that - short of a really big bomb...

I’m not so sure flames could reach and maintain 1,000 feet high. Sounds like the press means to say “really high”, “really, really high”, “the highest we’ve ever seen!” high.

I could be wrong, goodness knows it wouldn’t be the first, or the last time, but that’s awfully high for flames. The fireball from an accumulation of gas might be that high for a moment, but not sustained.

We’ll just have to wait and see.
