Scientists involved with IPCC study acknowledge there were minor problems with supplementary information in the original 1998 study that became known as the hockey stick report.

The computer model responsible for the hockey stick produced that same result regardless of what information was fed into it. That's a "minor problem"?

Newsweek published a story in 1975 headlined "The Cooling World."

"There are ominous signs that the Earth's weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production - with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth," the article warned, citing a "sudden, large increase" in snow cover and a drop in the amount of sunshine reaching the continental United States. 

Less sunlight reaching Earth causes global cooling. More sunlight reaching Earth causes global warming.

If Earth had no atmosphere it would be as cold as the moon. But Earth does have an atmosphere. So where does the heat come from? Like a thermos that you can put hot chocolate in to keep warm, the thermos retains heat that  slowly dissipates. When the Sun reduces the amount of heat sent to Earth the heat dissipates faster and cools Earth and the atmosphere.. When the Sun sends more heat to Earth the heat accumulates and warms Earth and the atmosphere.

As expected, it has been found that Sun cycles correlate with the rise and fall of temperature on Earth.  For all intents and purposes the Sun is the cause of global warming and global cooling.

The scare tactics have flip-flopped four times over the last eighty-some years.

Sorting out the truth on global warming

From 1940 to 1975 CO2 output by industry increased dramatically. The democrats/socialists say that this CO2 output by industry/capitalism is what is causing global warming. But all temperature records show that the earth cooled from 1940 to 1975 when CO2 in the atmosphere was rising dramatically. In fact the liberal media was warning of a coming Ice age during this time.So CO2 is not driving climate or causing global warming. Therefore humans and their capitalism are not causing global warming. In fact the sun is causing any warming if there is any real warming at all.

Liberals/socialists will try to cripple industry with this Global warming scam. Subsequently the economy will collapse without the coal power plants and energy that it needs to run. Then they will say “See capitalism doesn’t work so we need to have government own everything and run the economy”. Also the Global warming scam is a evil tactic for increasing government size and taxes.

To be fair, I think their conclusion was more like the evidence is overwhelming that the Earth is warming and there is strong evidence that human activities as a whole are part of it. There was not just *one* conclusion from the panel.

I have read that one of the least understood aspects of the suns effect on global warming is not the actual heat output from the sun. It's the effect of sunspots and violent solar flare output that has an affect on the amount of cosmic rays reaching the upper atmosphere, which has a net affect on cloud formation. The science is most definitely not all in.

This is the biggest lie of all. The 'study' does not support this at all. The political report sent to the IPCC, written by a few true believers, is what makes this claim. This is why there were some scientists, who had lent their names to the original, full study, asked that their names be taken off of it when that report was sent to the UN, and changed what the full study actually said.

Sunspots are a major factor in global warming. This theory, promoted by Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, and others, seems to make a lot of sense. We know there are fluctuations in heat from the sun, so it seems logical that they could make the Earth hotter. But the landmark IPCC report released in February said solar fluctuations were not an important factor in the dramatic warming of the Earth in recent decades. Scientists say the amount of heat from the sun has not increased significantly in the past 30 years, even though global temperatures did. Michael Oppenheimer, a professor of geosciences at Princeton University who worked on the IPCC report, said solar variations "are not the dominant contributor to warming in the past 50 years. Greenhouse gases are the dominant factor."

Absolutely nothing the guy said was about sunspots. Absolutely nothing. This is how they argue. Start off with one subject then tangent off into something totally unrelated to disprove the original point. And you know what, it does not matter. Because the people who read these things are not going to go out and learn about sun spots.
