I appreciated him after 9/11. I admired how he shoved the grapefruit in the face of that Saudi Prince. I thought for a few weeks that he might be more moderate on the 2A position for the rest of us in the frontier than he was in the five Boroughs. I was extremely surprised that he could still stand for PBA even after he didn't need to. It is easy to see now that he is more liberal than a "Rockefeller Republican" or even a "Roosevelt Republican." But what I'm truly shocked to learn on this thread is that "Rudy-mania" appears to be a mental disorder.

They think that Rudy will pick judges in the mold of Scalia, Thomas, Roberts...etc.

At this stage, even months before the first primary, to back a candidate who thinks that there is a "right to an abortion" is simply the wrong strategy.

I wouldn't call it a mental disorder...and I certainly wouldn't be so desperately afraid of Rudy in the face of a few DBM push polls as some here seem to be.

Fred will easily win the nomination.

You can’t totally blame all of them. They have Hillary Derangement Syndrome.

Let's see, his mentor was Sen. Howard Baker. Howard Baker is the son-in-law of the beloved Sen. Everett Dirksen (Mr. Marigold). I read the book, "The Honorable Mr. Marigold: My Life With Everett Dirksen" last year. Even in Georgia, I know you can't get more Republican than an Illinois - Republican.

What's more, Fred Thompson was born in Alabama (so was I). He took the Senate seat that Al Gore had vacated when he became VP. Obviously some people that voted for a liberal Dem would also vote for Senator Thompson.

He is an actor. President Reagan was an actor. He has ultra face and name recognition. Hundreds-of-thousands of vacuous minded people will vote for him because he was so rad in "The Hunt for Red October." He worked as a lobbyist for General Electric (among other companies). Ronald Reagan was a spokesman for GE. My dad retired from GE.

It sounds like kismet to me!
