Set aside transient polls for a moment and look at the fundamentals: We know he will lose a significant number of votes from two major GOP constituencies (social conservatives and libertarian conservatives). Where does he get the votes to make up for those he loses, plus some more to put him over the top?

If his views on abortion or gun control haven't changed since he was Mayor of NYC, he'll lose in the red states. He wouldn't even win over many Democrat votes in Montana just on those two issues. Especially in my county. Montana has it's share of Hollyweird leftists, but thankfully none of them live where I do.
