That wasn't viciousness; that was sardonic wit. It wasn't *wit* either.

Drawing lines in the sand. You either agree with JimRob’s mission statement, or you learn to be polite, and to discourse with some sensibility and restraint, I think is how it could be summed up.
Could someone FReepmail to me the URL of whatever this “WA” site is that (I keep hearing) was set up by numerous recently-banned folks? I’m terribly curious — but please do not post the URL in the thread itself. Use FReepmail.
Thanks!

No true Scotsman is a term coined by
Antony Flew in his 1975 book
Thinking About Thinking or do I sincerely want to be right?:
- Imagine Hamish McDonald, a Scotsman, sitting down with his Press and Journal and seeing an article about how the "Brighton Sex Maniac Strikes Again." Hamish is shocked and declares that "No Scotsman would do such a thing." The next day he sits down to read his Press and Journal again and this time finds an article about an Aberdeen man whose brutal actions make the Brighton sex maniac seem almost gentlemanly. This fact shows that Hamish was wrong in his opinion but is he going to admit this? Not likely. This time he says, "No true Scotsman would do such a thing."
Flew's original example may be softened into the following [1]:
- Argument: "No Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge."
- Reply: "But my uncle Angus likes sugar with his porridge."
- Rebuttal: "Ah yes, but no true Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge."
This form of argument is a informal fallacy if the predicate ("putting sugar on porridge" or "doing such a thing [as committing a sex crime]") is not actually contradictory for the accepted definition of the subject ("Scotsman"), or if the definition of the subject is silently adjusted after the fact to make the rebuttal work.

There are a couple posters posting in riddles lol. Some have the conviction to post their actual opinions. Worth ignoring imo.

“There really are no true Scotsmen.”
Then I guess that it’s a good thing that this is Constitutional Conservative site and not Scotland.

Haven't you heard about how horrible TP is for Global Warming. I read in Sports Illustrated that it's bad, so it must be true.

If they choose to do it and the FReepers don’t object or ask that their names not be posted, that’s their business. Volunteering the information is one thing; demanding it is another.
It still isn’t anybody else’s business. I don’t care who donates and who doesn’t. All it does is lead to either pride, where someone can flaunt what they’ve given, or judgmentalism for what another is perceived for doing or not doing.
Donations shouldn’t be for bragging rights and to be used to push other people around.

Well, I will just stick with my original premise that there were a bunch of long-time FReepers who were either never conservative to start with or had devolved into liberalism over a period of time. The fact remains that we don’t need people polluting a conservative forum with the notion that liberalism is the answer.

The last dance of the RINO Ents.Hmm.
Knitting: “It’s a conservative tent. They don’t 100% overlap.”
I've always thought FR is whatever it is at a given point, not what it sez on the intro page, nor what anybody wants it to be.
Kinda like a garden. Stuff grows, and it depends on what you consider a weed. So JimRob comes in and plows a bunch of stuff under, maybe the place becomes what he wants.
But I think it's interesting, that even here after the 'purge' Knitting and L'T and txradio all mix and match FR being a "conservative site" and others talking about the "RINOs being purged."
RINOs is not interchangeable with CINOs, if we are to believe that Conservative credentials are more important than Republican creds. Right?
