Oliver Stone to create anti-Iraq war TV spot Last Updated: Saturday, April 21, 2007 | 11:30 AM ET CBC Arts
Director Oliver Stone, who won Oscars for Born on the Fourth of July and Platoon, will produce a television commercial urging the U.S. to bring American troops back from Iraq.
Stone, who is also a Vietnam vet, is directing a 30-second spot for the campaign by MoveOn.org and VoteVets.org. It's slated to air in late May.
"We have leaders in Washington who say they're 'supporting our troops' — but the people who suffer most from their policies are the troops themselves," Stone said in a statement.
"I decided to participate in this project because, as a veteran, I know that America needs to listen to our servicemen and women. They've been there and they know what's really going on. They need to be part of this debate."
The 60-year-old director will be donating his services to the spot, which will feature an American veteran of the war in Iraq or the family of a veteran.

I wonder what the commercial will say. He has not really put out too much lately so I guess going to commercials is about as good as it gets for him now a days. The Republicans in Hollywood: Please do NOT put out a rebuttle commerical. You did it for the Stem Cells and it sucked!!!! Don’t do it again!

Since it’s easy to criticize what we are doing I expect the usually arguments. I get the feeling Stone is getting desperate so expect him to get excruciatingly high to put his style on it.

That commerical was the reason that the Democrats won in Missouri! It was made with about 10 dollars and was all over the news (Fox News anyway). It was highly embarrasing, but FREEPERS loved it...silly.)

We really need a concerted effort to counteract this crap. We need a documentary detailing the conspiracy of the left in collusion with Democrats to turn Iraq into another Vietnam. We need people who can direct something like that and get it into theaters. We need to fire back and all we’ve been doing is throwing stones and they’ve got the full propaganda machine of Hollywood and the media behind them.
