Is there really any hope for blacks as a whole as long as Jessie and Al are masquerading as their leaders?

Gil Sherman was a handsome, articulate Negro, (acceptable term in my high school days)in my high school graduating class. We were friends and sat in the back of the class and were the perennial cutups! Gil came from a well to do, upper class family. His Mom worked in the city for Hall Mark cards. She was a minor poetess and wrote the prose and poetry that was published in the cards.

Gil went NYU and the next time I saw him he was selected Air force Junior Officer of the Year and was pictured on Air Force Recruiting Posters. At my 25th high schol reunion were learned that Gil had passed due to sickle cell.

It's family values and Gil had his share of good family and fortune. Didn't need no government aid!

“And if a black man is educated and conservative, he is called an “uncle Tom”.”

The crux of the matter. I once worked assembling PCs at a depot in Memphis. I was the only white employee on the floor. Nobody would speak to me at all. If I laughed at a joke, I would get, “What are you laughing at?”, etc.

After about 2 weeks, this one black guy did start talking to me and I found that he was quite intelligent and interested in starting his own consulting business. Much to the chagrin of the other employees, we became pretty much inseparable at work. I started noticing that they began treating him the same way. The wasn’t afraid to speak normally to me and use “big words” that angered the other employees. It was when I heard him referred to as “Uncle Tom” that I finally quit.

The hatred in the air was thick and palpable at that place.

That guy (Jamie Kennedy) is a millionaire, so he’s done okay with it.

Many of these issues can go away if the majority of the black community embraces the Conservative principles and culture. Until they do this their problems will continue. I see no other solution.

Yeah but for the majority of teens this is just a phase in life and nothing more. Nevertheless, the teens should see the end results of this culture.

Forget #3. The ACLU shot that one down in ,I believe Chicago.
Forget #5. Single ‘parent’ families is the norm. Actually zero parent is not uncommon.
The mother pawns the kid(s) off on the grandparent(s). The father(s) are out impregnating a new girlfriend(s).
The girlfriend(s) want to get pregnant to prove their love to the boyfriend(s).

Until the culture is changed no amount of money will solve the problem.

No amount of government intervention can ever overcome nature.

----------------------------------------------------

Very clever - very racist in its assumption - but very clever.

Money exacerbates the problem.

"Note the following: First, four of the five are what government can do.'''

Exactly!

Here is the solution and the ONLY solution to the plight of African-Americans in America today.

- Ditch the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and follow the path that Bill Cosby's message expresses. Slavery is over folks. I wasn't involved in it and really don't give two hoots about it. Mop up that pity party and get out into the free enterprise system and make your way. This is the richest country on Earth and the easiest to start a business or gain employment. Make yourself valuable. No more excuses. I am not listening. I don't care.

Since Political Correctness is a theme in the thread, I guess it wasn't going to be too long before the PC "racist" flag would come out.

While I don't pretend to have absolute insight to Hatter's thought process when forming the quoted comment, it seems to me that another perspective would be that "no amount of government intervention can overcome human nature".

That was just a bad article. “Head Start has a proven track record”. BS!! It has proven track record of not achieving it’s stated goals. Their suggestion? Throw more tax dollars at it.”

Right!!! Throw more money at Head Start so there is a bigger fund for Jesse Jackson to raid for his personal slush fund.

You forgot the mandatory appearance on the Maury Povich show with the DNA tests trying to prove which of 27 males is “my baby’s daddy”.

This is what happens when the welfare state is allowed to dominate any group. Look what happened to the American Indians on the reservations. The black inner cities are just another form of reservation.

This is all by design. It is not the result of good intentions. The major proponents of the Great Society knew what they were creating all along..... an underclass of permanent DemonRAT voters.

Increased educational opportunities would be helpful if the schools taught African-American kids useful stuff that they can actually use to be successful.
