I found Saddams WMD bunkers Melanie Phillips
Its a fair bet that you have never heard of a guy called Dave Gaubatz. Its also a fair bet that you think the hunt for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq has found absolutely nothing, nada, zilch; and that therefore there never were any WMD programmes in Saddams Iraq to justify the war ostensibly waged to protect the world from Saddams use of nuclear, biological or chemical weapons. Dave Gaubatz, however, says that you could not be more wrong. Saddams WMD did exist. He should know, because he found the sites where he is certain they were stored. And the reason you dont know about this is that the American administration failed to act on his information, lost his classified reports and is now doing everything it can to prevent disclosure of the terrible fact that, through its own incompetence, it allowed Saddams WMD to end up in the hands of the very terrorist states against whom it is so controversially at war.

Food for thought...

Actually, stuff about Dave Gaubatz has been posted before. I can’t remember for sure, but there were questions as to his credibility. I’ll see if I can locate something tomorrow.
Article was posted TWICE before. Did you search?

He used these weapons against Kurds, Iraqis, and Iranians. Everyone knows he had them because he used them.
This corresponds with the assertions made by Gen. Georges Sada in his book.

I wouldn’t mind hearing if there’s truth to this or not...anyone?
No, I did not search, but thanks for letting me know it had been posted. Next time, I’ll look first. And why is it bogus? Do you happen to know for a fact that it’s bogus? If so, please present your proof.
Honestly, I believe there’s more to the WMD story than either side (pro-or-anti-Iraq-War) is willing to admit to, and that anything which prmoises to shed light on the debate is welcome and needed.
I did not post this with the intention of advancing the “anything that hints at WMD retroactively vindicates Bush” attitude. I believe that whilethe invasion of Iraq was justified for reasons having nothing to do with WMD’s, I do believe we’ve screwed the pooch so badly and politicized the thing to the point where rational debate and actual knowledge will never rear their ugly heads. It was posted solely for discussion purposes.
See? I told you there were WMDS! Just like everyone else said! Here the are!
This whole Bush lied BS would never have gotten off the ground, and would have been relegated to conspiracy kooks.
That isn’t in doubt. What is in doubt is that credible reports of WMD’s or their component parts found in Iraq after the invasion (which were not reported to or known to UN inspectors) turn up from time to time. These weapons DO exist. A preponderance of the available evidence tends to show that the programs were so secret and the Iraqis so desperate to hide them that, very often, the left hand knew not what the right hath done. In other words; even the Iraqis didn’t know what they had or where they had them.
On at least three occasions that I know of, these weapons have turned up in Iraq, found by US forces of their allies (one of these incidences involved Polish troops, and was reported last summer). The typical response from both the press and the dimwits in Congress has been “yeah, but these aren’t NEW WMD’s” (i.e. weapons not constructed after the UN Resolution which instructed Iraq to report their weapons). Doesn’t matter to me; as a former aviation ordinanceman in the United States Navy, there is no such thing as an “inert” or “too-old-to-work” weapon.
If this man has something to say, let’s hear it. After he’s had his say, let’s gather whatever evidence there is and then make a determination as to whether it’s “bogus” or not, as someone else has asserted.
It’s most likely that they ended up in Syria.
I think it’s most likely the vast majority of these weapons and materials are still buried, and won’t be found until the Greens start complaining about the death of sand fleas caused by the soon-to-be-toxic desert enviornment.
Bump and PING
Not only that, but the equipment (welders, milling machines, lathes, etc.) used in the manufacture his WMD is missing. Iraq ministers want that stuff back. It was at the time (pre ‘91) state of the art tooling. It’s still quite valuable, and beneficial for the development for Iraq’s economy.
I wouldn’t have thought of that, but then again, tools of this sort usually have more than one use and when you say “welder” or “lathe” I tend to think car bumbers or steel plating and not WMD’s.
If, however, you said “high-capacity, industrial autoclave” with regards ot a country not known for it’s pharmecuetical industry, I might begin to think differently...
