Alec Baldwin issued an apology on Friday for unleashing a volcanic tirade at his 11-year-old daughter and blamed "certain people" for leaking the rant to US media.
The Oscar-nominated star of "The Departed" branded daughter Ireland a "rude, thoughtless, little pig" in a fiery voicemail message that emerged on celebrity websites on Thursday.
It is the latest twist to the bitter legal wrangling between Baldwin and ex-wife Kim Basinger over custody and visitation rights relating to Ireland. The couple split in 2001.
Baldwin's tirade was apparently triggered by Ireland's failure to switch her mobile phone on for a scheduled call with her father.
"Once again I've made an ass out of myself trying to get to a phone at a specific time," Baldwin says in the message. "I'm tired of playing this game with you. You have insulted me for the last time.

That hit the nail on the head. Although I think this is a very sad, sad situation for this little girl.
Can he buy some child mental abuse credits somewhere?
This is probably a minority opinion, but the press fire storm her mother created by leaking this voice mail probably was more devastating to her then what her dad did, even though he was a complete ass.
Basically everybody in America is now aware of this event between a father and daughter. That is extremely embarrassing and she will have to live with it for many years.
I blame Kim, her mom, for at least half of this
Both of her parents are manipulating this little girl
I don’t know, Adam’s pretty cool.
I know, I know, he’s not related.
I’m with you on this hleewilder... and it seems to be an unpopular viewpoint.
btw - it’s Alec Baldwin. ;)
I would never, ever, never ever, never ever call my daughters the names he called his daughter, ever. I don’t give a crap who you are. Don’t tell me he lost this temper, that is BS! My parents, or any of the kids I grew up with ever had their parents act that way toward them. Some of them had some pretty mean parents.
admit it, no matter what he did, you’d criticise him for it.
Do-Re-Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me
The monster shouldn’t be allowed to breath in the same room with her ever again.
THAT is how much contempt I have for verbally abusive parents.
"I'm sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child. I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now."
Narcissist.
HOLY CRAP. My mom calls me a pig all the time! Even today, and I’m 33 years old! Of course, she’s looking at my messy bedroom when she calls me a pig. ;)
Didn't he hit his child's mother? Do you think maybe if she'd shown him more respect he wouldn't have been forced to hit her? Sorry, he's not worthy.
Hey, respect is as respect does. What he did was verbal and emotional abuse. Things said like this by a father to a child on the verge of womanhood hurt for a lifetime. If he wants respect, he has to separate himself from whatever his ex says or does about him and make da*ned sure he speaks to his daughter appropriately.
His brother, Stephen, is a political conservative and an outspoken Christian - as well as being a talented actor.

Au contraire. Stephen Baldwin is a Christian Conservative.
” Actor Stephen Baldwin said he would “continue praying” for his
brother Alec because of Alec’s open hostility to religious conservatives. “
I must have crap for parents, then. Sigh. I drove them to insanity many a time and the profanity and names that came out of their mouth! They even slapped me in the face on occasion! Yet I’m a happy, healthy Republican adult with a wonderful relationship with them. Go figure.
