Center for Individual Freedom - Nancy Pelosi (In which Ms. Pelosi commits a felony)
Center For Individual Freedom ^ | April 20, 2007 | Jeff Mazzella

Question: Will Republicans chicken out and allow Nancy Pelosi to get away with prancing off to Syria and conspiring with Syria's leader Bashar al-Assad, a supporter of terrorism?

Answer: Only if you and I fail to do something about it -- and MIGHTY QUICK!

For months, Pelosi has been strutting around the country... waving a white flag... savaging the President... demanding our UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER ON THE WAR ON TERROR. In fact, if she had her way, the United States would skulk out of Iraq like whipped dogs, letting a bunch of rag-tag Islamic Fascists run the world.

……. Pelosi arguably committed a FELONY when she traveled to Syria and whispered behind closed doors with Bashar al-Assad, Syria's terrorist-loving leader.

First, the U.S. Constitution implicitly gives the President the authority to conduct foreign policy.

In order to make that responsibility explicit, in 1798 President John Adams initiated the Logan Act, which forbids any American -- "without authority of the United States" -- to communicate with a foreign government with the intent of influencing that government's actions in any "disputes or controversies with the United States."

VIOLATION OF THE LOGAN ACT IS A FELONY. Upon conviction, an offender can be sentenced to prison for up to three years.

[snip] Why should Speaker Pelosi -- third in the line of Presidential succession -- get away with blatantly undermining U.S. foreign policy by meeting with the leader of a country that supports terrorism? Why aren't our conservative leaders calling for a full investigation of her actions, or censure or even impeachment?

[snip]The U.S. broke off diplomatic relations with Syria in 2005, so no communication with that country's government could possibly occur "with the authority of the United States."

Everyone who hasn’t already emailed their representative should send one now. We need to let them know that we haven’t forgotten about Pelosi’s crime.

Waste of time for me. My Senators are Feinstein and Boxer. Been without representation for many, many years. Talk about discouraging.

She is in no way a diplomatic representative of the United States, and does not realize she is only a token female placed in the Speaker's chair for show....

Gonzales (before he leaves) should file an action for impeachment/censure/prosecution for violation of the Logan Act.

“H”! They gave her a Military Aircraft to fly over to the ME in the first place. They are complicit.

“Time to call your Senators folks...”

Not trying to be mean here but why? What do Senators have to do with this? If she broke the law (I think she did) she should be arrested by the appropriate federal agency and tried like any other citizen. Of course, if this were to happen, the left would riot in the streets and then our leaders would give as usual. So why start the process at all?

That’s why they are attacking AG AG. He’d be the one to bring them up on charges.

Your question is by no way mean but a very good one. Whether charges against her come from with in or from the outside (and I do not see anyone starting it), our Senators need to be petitioned to stand up for the law instead of rolling over as they seem to do so often. Hopefully they will listen to a flood of voices. It seems like what ever administration is in office only the Left push when they think a law is broken and the Right seem to whine for a moment and then roll over and play dead, so to speak. Main point, call your Senators and let the law take it’s natural course and don’t get in the way of it but help it move forward.

You may remember that in 2005 I wrote an essay denouncing liberal efforts to undermine the war, entitled, “The Real Enemy.” Because nobody prominent, least of all Republicans, would question the patriotism of Teddy Kennedy, John Kerry, Howard Dean, John Murtha and Dick Durbin, it fell upon me to do it. Then in early 2006 I added Al Gore to the list, though it appears he won’t ever stand trial because of insanity. Now it looks like I’ll have to add Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi; can we bring back tarring & feathering just for them?

Ahhh. I see your point and not a bad one at that. My senate critters are Lahey and Sanders. Not my doing but there it is. Think I could get them to help? :D)

Old story. We will not hear anything about Nancy for sure. Harry’s story will last a few more days, but for the most part is over. The NASA story helped him big time. We so much want to see these two go down, but it just is not going to happen at least not with these two examples. Let’s see what they do next? We will be disappointed if we want justice from these two stories...won’t happen. Sorry. Maybe next time. The Republicans are not into putting themselves out there for the sake of the Country. Maybe when we get a better group of Senators and Reps.

Didn’t you get the Media Memo?

Democrats are ALLOWED to commit crimes now...

Be it Corruption, treason, Voter fraud, sedition, pedophelia, etc, etc., Committing crimes-while-Democrat is no longer a crime.

And if you dare to fire a prosecutor for NOT pursuing a Democrat’s crimes....

Well, let’s not go into that.

On the other hand, let a Republican act in an approved Democrat manner, and you’ll get WEEKS of headlines and breathless commentary in the weeks before an election.

They might be trying to take over the Presidency, but in the end Bush keeps winning.

I expect Reid to do a whole lot of backtracking next week, and he probably killed any chance of a timetable bill being approved. Dems will be distancing themselves from any notion of a defeatist withdrwal bill.
