I doubt that most of the people here have sold and transfered hundreds of firearms to individuals as I have in the past twenty-five years. Before the NICS check the Form 4473 "yellow form" was pretty much of a joke. Very rarely would a person truthfully answer yes to one of the questions that made them a "prohibited" person. Even after NICS began there is still one question on the form that is not verified by the check: "Have you ever been committed to a mental institution or been adjudicated mentally defective?" BTW, unlike the misdemeanor domestic violence disqualifier this one can be expunged or pardoned and is not a lifetime prohibition against possessing a firearm.

If we are going to have the check at all then let's make it accurate.

But this guy was not committed or deemed mentally defective. See that is the problem. The government is going to catch alot of normal people in their sweep. Just wait if you have ever seen a physician for depression or anxiety you will be denied. That would be probably 50% of the population. The ACLU will be aganist this as will I. Freedom is a hard thing for those who want the government or some law to make them feel safe. It will not work. Life is not fair and freedom is dangerous.
