Hi, my name is Nicole and I am destroying the planet.
I have two cars, often drive alone, haphazardly sort my trash, receive too many of my statements on paper and, worse, know full well I am not doing enough. How can any of us NOT know? Every day, we're reminded of what's at stake: That layer of something hanging around Mount Rainier. The hot stench of traffic. The snow that never lasts very long.
That little voice in my head? That's Al Gore.
We buy containers for our recycling, for our compost, but that's also part of the problem: We still buy, buy, buy. We consume. We waste. We don't pause to think of the ripple effect our actions have not only on the near future, but the lives of the others we're trying to build.
I don't want to be one of those people any more. I want to be an every-little-bit-counts person. Day by day, week by week, I am going to try to change the way I use this planet, in the hope of adding more days to those who come after me.
What is the rule for those who climb the mountains we so love? Leave no trace. I'd like to live every day that way. And if I leave anything, it's green.

Speak for yourself, Brodeur, the broad of Seattle.
“That little voice in my head? That’s Al Gore.”
Poor you. I have a little angel who sits on my shoulder.
Why doesn’t she go live with Al Gore? He’s got plenty of room.
...and that voice is saying “Buy carbon offset credits. I can get them for you wholesale!”
Time for a lobotomy. ;^)
Time for a lobotomy. ;^)
The internet speaks to her!!!! She must just channel it right in. Straight from the Gore epicenter.
OOPS. Hiccup.
Nicole,
If you were truly committed to doing wondrous things for the planet, reducing your carbon footprint, you could do the ultimate and everyone would love you for it, including me.
You could move to Portland, Oregon. That state has passed a law allowing assisted suicide. Do it, Nicole; your carbon footprint will be just a speck - you’d be such a heroine (oops, is that sexist?).
Go for it, Nicole. Remember the movie MASH...Suicide is painless....
Leave no trace?
Live under a bridge.
Have no children.
Walk everywhere (even public transportation is part of the problem).
Eat scraps and leftovers, preferably from a dumpster (that way nothing is wasted and you don’t consume something that wasn’t going to be discarded anyway).
Don’t take any medications and never visit a doctor. Every extra day you spend on the planet extracts something from Gaia. When your time comes, accept your fate.
Get your clothes from Goodwill, or better yet pick up scraps you find on the street and in the trash. Nothing should be wasted.
Finally, exhale lightly. Every breath you take results in carbon dioxide poisoning of mother earth.
Excellent!
About par for the course. Left-wing liberal enviro-whackos hearing “voices”. Ahem.
i wonder what she looks like
Are you kidding? He's looking to make real bucks on this scam, and there are plenty of fools like this chick who will support his move to force governments to kowtow to his ideas.
“We still buy, buy, buy.”
I’m doing my part by NOT buying...the Slimes!
