Ron Paul: A Conservative Study in Contrasts
The Politico ^ | April 18, 2007 | Josh Kraushaar

Excerpt: The candidate is one of the most outspoken defenders of gun rights in Congress and has never voted for a bill restricting gun ownership. He thinks this week's tragedy at Virginia Tech could have been prevented if the university allowed students and professors to carry concealed weapons. "People are a little more cautious if somebody might have a gun there. A concealed gun carried by a responsible person, that might have ended the problem that they had at Virginia Tech, with one person being killed, or two people being killed," he said. Another signature Paul proposal is support for the elimination of income taxes. His campaign slogan in congressional elections has been "The Taxpayer's Best Friend." "I don't think we need an income tax," Paul said. "I promised my people I would do anything and everything I can to get rid of the income tax, to repeal the 16th Amendment, never vote to raise taxes and always vote to lower taxes. And it's been a popular position."

If i recall, Paul also encouraged people to give of their personal funds to memorialize veterans. This is a good thing.

Because I despise the fraud of paleocowardice posing as either patriotism or conservatism, I stand by every word. We are not going back to the caves or back to 1936. Interventionism now and forever.

I'm impressed that you have an excuse for your insults and fallacies, even if it includes fabricated words even though the "words" you stand by are mispelled or newly invented.

Since you apparently invented the word "paleocowardice," you have every right to despise it and your other fabrications.

Does Charlton Heston know that he is being (mis)represented as supporting paleoPaulie in 2008?

Paleo"conservative" is a word as well as a very false concept and a libel against actual conservatives. Whazzamatter? Does boodgems not like it when others construct words far more accurate? Too bad.

If I invented "paleocowardice", you must remember that paleoPaulie, Weepy Walter Jones, Upchuck Hagel and the other paleoweenies invented the despicable contradiction in terms of an antiwar antiAmericanism posing as "conservative." Inevitably a brand name would be developed to apply to the cowardly antipatriotic reality. Glad to have been of service.

If paleo"conservatives" delude themselves into imagining that they can look back in history to such as Colonel McCormack, John Flynn, Charles Lindbergh, et al.., as predecessors in ideology, they ought to remember that the America First Committee was terminated on December 8, 1941. Those men did not humiliate themselves and their followers by opposing the efforts of our troops in the field. The paleowussies needed the example of Jerry Rubin, Abbie Hoffman, Angela Davis, George McGovern, Ted the Swimmer, John the Traitor (both of them/Murtha/Kerry) to imagine that they could get away with attacking the efforts of the troops while claiming to be Americans.

You guys whine about Dubya but the biggest mistake he ever made in this war was not to whack the foreign policy/military "paleos" and other leftists in the chops for the antiAmericans that they are 24/7/365.

Will you paleos be advocating swapping the Louisiana Purchase for a refund of $3 million in gold since it too was "unconstitutional?" Might be a good idea since it would really strengthen the influence of "paleo" foreign policy by getting rid of a lot of that inconvenient flyover country and giving New England and the mid-Atlantic states a stranglehold.

Is there an Air Force in the constitution?

How about missile defense?

Alaska Purchase?

Gadsden Purchase?

That young lady on your homepage demonstrates one thing. However bad your politics, you have impeccable taste in young ladies.

I doubt he knows it as there is no record of Heston supporting a "paleoPaulie" other than the faulty premises in your questions.

False analogy. Japan attacked us on December 7 and we went to war with Japan and then Germany which declared war on us. As even George Bush admits, Saddam did not attack us on September 11 and not a single one of the highjackers were Iraqis. Just like the American Firsters, Ron Paul supported fighting the force that launched the attacked, in this case Al Qaeda, rather than chasing windmills attempting to bring "democracy" to the iraqi hell-hole. John T. Flynn, no doubt, would back Paul if were alive today.

PaleoPaulie is no more likely to be nominated for POTUS by an adult political party than was Liberty Bell Lemke before Pearl Harbor or after. Do you really prefer that we sit around sucking our collective thumb while the Islamofascisti (and no, I really don't give a feather or a fig as to their nationalities) prepare more attacks on such as the WTC and the Pentagon, the White House and the Congress???

Are you familiar with the late Abbu Abbas and the late Abu Nidal??? Who was harboring them on 9/11 or therebouts? Even if the Nation and the Daily Worker and Chronicles did not notice????

Flynn was the editor of the New Haven Register when I was growing up. Trust me that the New Haven Register itself was never again a paleoquisling publication after 12/7/41. And they weren't sitting around in a circle playing mumblety peg or speculating on which enemy of America could be tolerated. If Flynn would ever have supported the likes of paleoPaulie after 12/7/41, it would be evidence of rank senility.

When paleos meet, do they beat their gums whining about how that awful Dubya treated that nice Mr. Sodamn Insane and his two pups Uday and Qucay?

Personally, I don't care if democracy ever comes to Iraq so long as it is dominated by the US and our enemies (that is the enemies of the United States for those in Rio Linda or other parts of paleoland) there are suppressed and killed.

Like the leftists that they are on foreign/military policy, today's paleowhatevers are always claiming to support the war but never the one we are actually fighting. [Yet another arrow from the quiver of the antiwar antiAmerican left.] Who cares what paleos support or oppose? It isn't as though there were enough of these sad sack pseudo-conservatives to matter.

If paleowhateverism is the answer (the International A.N.S.W.E.R.????), then it must have been an uncommonly dimwitted question.

Do you think it is moral behavior to misappropriate the good name and good reputation of Charlton Heston as though he would support paleotrash like the squishball paleoPaulie (Ron Paul for those in Rio Linda) for POTUS in 2008?

As an example of my questions: Where is the faulty premise in the question of whether the constitution has provision for the US Air Force or whether there is a constitutional provision allowing the Louisiana Purchase, the Gadsden Purchase, and the Alaska Purchase. I ask such questions of those who like to hide behind the constitution to justify their allergy to war. Did not paleoPaulie himself just vote to further fund the war he claims is unconstitutional? Is he an enemy of the constitution that he likes to hide behind?

Wow. That's post is quite an insight into your politics. We don't have the right to free speech because it's in the Constitution.

"It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world, so far, I mean, as we are now at liberty to do it; for let me not be understood as capable of patronizing infidelity to existing engagements. I hold the maxim no less applicable to public than to private affairs that honesty is always the best policy. I repeat, therefore, let those engagements be observed in their genuine sense, but in my opinion it is unnecessary and would be unwise to extend them."

Ron Paul's name is not "PaleoPaulie."

I am still waiting for Verax's answer about the rationale for the picture he posted.

I doctored the photo to make my point about Ron Paul being the strongest 2nd Amendment candidate in the race. I thought it was obvious that I doctored it.

Undoubtedly you have some delusional paleorationale for what free speech has to do with the questions cited. By all means, share.

Also you left out the question about the Louisiana Purchase.

If ever weapons technology returns to the days of sailing ships and muskets, we should make a real point of restoring Washington's "no entangling alliances" policies. In an age of intercontinental ballistic missiles, H-Bombs, A-Bombs, Islamofascist lunatics bent on destroying Western Civilization, and a variety of similar challenges, it seems a bit feckless (to say nothing of suicidal) to stick our heads in the sand hoping that the baaaaad men will just go away if we ignore them.

Fortunately, America is governed by grownups rather than paleoPaulies and other wimps.

As to your Charlton Heston abuse and dishonesty, Heston has NEVER supported a spaghettispined paleoforeignpolicywimp in his life even when he thought himself a Democrat while marching for civil rights in the 1960s.
