Johannesburg - Tests have confirmed that Vets Choice and Royal Canin dog and cat dry pet-food products contained corn gluten contaminated with melamine, says the manufacturer.
The contaminated corn gluten was delivered to Royal Canin by a South African third-party supplier and appears to have originated from China.

Sounds great. Can my dog and I come over to have dinner with your dogs?
Uh-oh. If it got into pig food, I wonder if it’s in horse feed yet?
In a perfect world, the World Health Organization would have urged a total ban on all Chinese food exports until such exports could be certified safe.
Of course in this imperfect world, we’ll just have to wait until humans start dropping dead in droves before any serious effort is made to safeguard our food supplies.
I believe that much (if not all) of this ‘contamination’ is a dry run for a massive poisoning attack against our population.
‘Accidents’ like this don’t take on the pattern that seems to be emerging.
They are testing ways to contaminate our food supply.
Is it me or is China exploring ways to contaminate a target country’s food supply?
A basic Constitutional role of the federal government is to protect the people and the borders. Obviously, they are dropping the ball concerning our food supplies. Way past time to start demanding action from our “leaders.”
It isn’t above belief. I have warned against it for years. When a country gives up its ability to feed its’ people they give up security. More and more, we are all eating imported food knowing nothing about the quality, grown and handled by the laws of a foreign nation with fertilizers and chemicals that we can’t even know about.
Import ban and stand down on all China food products until it can be tested.
No other option now.
Do we even know whether they’ve fed this stuff to chickens and cattle also?
Yes, I lost my Yorkie, couple years ago...wonder just how long this scourge has been going on....at the time the Doc, was lost as to why a healthy, well cared for dog would have kidney problems....
I lived in Japan 20 years ago...at the time the California rice growers were trying to sell their rice in Japan....the Japanese said no...we donât want to depend on imported food...as well, I have visited China, Chinese soil is totally depleted from 100s of years of cultivation, I can see importing from Australia/New Zealand/Canada....but China, NO way....I never ‘knowingly’ buy Chinese food products...
It is a good policy and would serve the United States well right now.
Despite all of our imports we still subsidize our farmers not to grow crops.
Unbelievable! I very much enjoy preparing and eating oriental food. The Japanese product is always of an unimpeachable quality. I stopped buying any Chinese food products three weeks ago. BTW- We hosted an exchange student from Japan a few years ago. She was an associate for my wife's non-profit group. Her lodging plans fell apart at the last minute and the association asked if we could could board her few three days. My wife called me and asked if I would mind having a 24 year old Japanese woman stay at our house. I ran out the door and asked what time her plane was arriving! True story! :-D
