It takes a village idiot to raise a child
TMZ ^ | 4/19/07

An enraged Alec Baldwin unleashed a volcanic tirade of threats and insults on his 11-year-old daughter, Ireland, calling her a "thoughtless little pig," and bashing her mother Kim Basinger -- and TMZ has obtained the whole thing unfiltered and raw. And, we've learned, the tape could cost Baldwin his visitation rights.

he would not have to worry about any games her mother might be playing.

Now that's not quite true. He has visitation. Which means that he gets a few hours or days here and there. Mom on the other hand, has considerably more hours to subtly deposit ideas and work them into a larger problem. Since dad has no clue as to what is going on, he becomes enraged at a change in behavior which plays right into the plan.

Like I said...there's more to this situation than what is being let out in the media and at this point there is no reason to trust either one of them to be completely candid about the situation.

My sympathies for this poor child.

Everyone is screeming that we did not notice the 'signs' that Cho was unbalanced before he went and killed all those people at Virginia Tech.

Well, I submit that A$$lick Baldwin has been showing 'signs' that he is unbalanced. Better do something to him before he does something to that child!!

I am not one for coddling kids, I think they need to be held accountable for their actions, however calling a child names is not only just plain mean, it won’t improve anything about the child (which is what the goal should be).
I remember a teacher once, when I was in 6th grade, called a chubby kid “Jelly Belly”. Even then I thought it was just plain mean, and while I liked the teacher I lost respect for her.
Lots of adults are not really very grown up.

too bad he’s so funny - I can’t help but like him in his acting roles.

I try not to like him too. I just watched his "schwetty balls" skit on SNL the other day. I'm chuckling just thinking about it.

If I were married to Kim Basinger, and then she dumped me, I’d go nuts too.

I doubt if Alec suffers from a lack of female company.....

Every time I have seen and heard Baldwin he just strikes me as a very angry man. It comes through, somehow.

I remember in the BOR interview when he was calling Bush names, you could see the hatred roiling in him.

One day we’re going to hear about him doing something really violent, watch and see.

The guy is just a bully, and his bullying may be fueled at times by alcohol or drugs. He has a long track record of bullying behavior. Just watch him on a talk show sometime when the topic turns political, or someone disagrees with him. I also seem to recall that one of the reasons Kim left him was because he was abusing her physically.

Agreed on one hand....I have watched a good man totally ^$*@($ by the court and ex wife who has used the system and the “protection” of woman and child from the big bad scary man...

But despite whatever games the mother might be playing, and however twisted and manipulated the child is, she is 11 years old and a child. Her father should know that and suck it the $*@() up and direct his anger and venom, if it is deserved, at the adults involved, not his child.

He needs to be the grownup here regardless of how unfair it is....

No doubt, Alec Baldwin has some serious emotional problems. Clearly he has no self-discipline which is called for when dealing with an 11 year old. Heck, self-discipline is required throughout life.

Just a shame for this poor girl

UPDATE: A friend of Alec Baldwin’s just contacted TMZ to say that the actor called Ireland last week and apologized for his outburst. The friend added that Ireland is the most important thing in the world to Alec and that he is frustrated because over the last six years, Kim has “tried everything” to alienate Ireland from him.

UPDATE: Alec Baldwin’s spokesperson released the following statement to the TV show “EXTRA”: “In the best interest of the child, Alec will do what the mother is pathologically incapable of doing ... keeping his mouth shut and obeying the court order. The mother and her lawyer leaked this sealed material in violation of a court order. Although Alec acknowledges that he should have used different language in parenting his child, everyone who knows him privately knows what he has been put through for the past six years.”

I hope Mama intercepted that call before daughter heard it.

I would have hung up—just to p*ss him off. Later, I’d tell him that I didn’t listen to it all BECAUSE I DIDN’T HAVE TO. (That’d make him reeeeally angry; because he seems to think that he can FORCE people to bend to his will.)

:-)

But I’m not very nice.

“In the best interest of the child, Alec will do what the mother is pathologically incapable of doing ... keeping his mouth shut and obeying the court order."

By sending out this very statement, isn't he doing exactly what he says he's not doing--and what he's blaming his x-wife of doing?
