Would you happen to have any thoughts on how to transition a 12 year old beagle and 11 year old border collie mix from dry food to something more safe and suitable?

When we got Daisy (almost 7) we got an older cocker at the same time... we literally transitioned her over to raw in one fell swoop and she took to it right away, the first day she sort of looked at it like what is this? and once she started eating you could see the juices start to flow and she was sold.

There is a small booklet out called Switching to Raw by Sue Johnson. I've seen this booklet praised over and over again.

There is a good solid long-lived list at yahoo called k9nutrition. You can get some good help in switching to either home-cooked or raw.

And a website called Dog Aware run by one of the moderators of k9nutrition. This site is full of up-to-date and accurate information for raw and homecooking dog owners.

Beagles, unless your Beagle is different, are food driven and pretty easy to put on a natural diet. Some of the more finicky breeds take a little more coaxing.

I didn't learn about a lot of this until I lost a dog to cancer about 9 years ago. The research I did into the type of cancer she had led me to a whole different life for my dogs. This is why I'm so passionate on the subject.
