The Supreme Court decision protecting babies from an unspeakable and grotesque end to their lives has the killer industry in an uproar today.

Mommy please explain to me
what does abortion mean
Thats a word my teacher used
last week in school
She said that she paid for one
and that its not really cruel
What have some people done...do they know what they've done
Mommy please explain to me
why is a fetus bad
She said its a parasite
that had to die
Is it just a worthless thing
do you think that it can cry
What have some people done...do they know what they've done
Mommy please explain me
what does its my choice mean
Does it mean that life and death
was in her hands
Did she take what wasnt hers
did she scoff at Gods commands
What have some people done...do they know what they've done
Mommy please explain to me
what's partial birth about
Does it mean a baby died...in an awful way
Why do people do such things
it will not grow up to play
What have some people done...do they know what they've done
Mommy please explain to me
are doctors sometimes wrong
Isnt life the thing that they
swore to protect
If they do an awful deed
something sacred they reject
What have some people done...do they know what they've done
HILLARY CLINTON ON SCOTUS DECISION:
4/18/2007
From the Senate: Statement on Supreme Court’s Gonzales v. Carhart Decision Washington, DC — “This decision marks a dramatic departure from four decades of Supreme Court rulings that upheld a woman’s right to choose and recognized the importance of women’s health. Today’s decision blatantly defies the Court’s recent decision in 2000 striking down a state partial-birth abortion law because of its failure to provide an exception for the health of the mother. As the Supreme Court recognized in Roe v. Wade in 1973, this issue is complex and highly personal; the rights and lives of women must be taken into account. It is precisely this erosion of our constitutional rights that I warned against when I opposed the nominations of Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito.”

Why the drop after 1960? (in deaths of women from illegal abortions)
The reasons were new and better antibiotics, better surgery and the establishment of intensive care units in hospitals. This was in the face of a rising population. Between 1967 and 1970 sixteen states legalized abortion. In most it was limited, only for rape, incest and severe fetal handicap (life of mother was legal in all states). There were two big exceptions California in 1967, and New York in 1970 allowed abortion on demand. Now look at the chart carefully.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Abortion Statistics - Decision to Have an Abortion (U.S.)
· 25.5% of women deciding to have an abortion want to postpone childbearing
· 21.3% of women cannot afford a baby
· 14.1% of women have a relationship issue or their partner does not want a child
· 12.2% of women are too young (their parents or others object to the pregnancy)
· 10.8% of women feel a child will disrupt their education or career
· 7.9% of women want no (more) children
· 3.3% of women have an abortion due to a risk to fetal health
2.8% of women have an abortion due to a risk to maternal health
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So how many womens lives have been saved by abortion?
Only about 3% of abortions since 1972 were reported to be due to a risk to maternal health. A reasonable person would recognize that not all of those cases represent a lethal risk. But lets say they did. That means that nearly 45 million fetuses were butchered to save the lives of about 1.3 million women. Or put another way; 35 babies are killed to save each woman.
Abortion was legal in all 50 states prior to Roe v. Wade in cases of danger to the life of the woman.
