Virginia Tech Professor Liviu Librescu: Bona Fide Hero
Holocaust Survivor Heroically Protected Lives of Students With No Regard to His Own Life

Amidst last Monday's emerging horror at Virginia Tech during the shooting rampage, a person of modest means and of deep seated selfless courage rose to the occasion. Professor Liviu Librescu instantly assessed the crisis and without hesitation blockaded the door trying to be breached. The gunman fired bullets through the door fatally injuring Professor Librescu. Even in death, the deadweight of his body prevented the door from opening, allowing the student to escape through the windows.
Acts of bravery such as this rarely happen in war by trained, disciplined soldiers, much less by untrained and unprepaired civilians during peacetime.
Truly, Liviu Librescu is a Bona Fide Hero and should be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

This is exactly why the Israelis kicked Arabic ass in the Six-Day War, because people like Dr. Librescu were fighting it.

God bless and rest his courageous soul.

Indeed. Mr. Liberscu had had in his life, when very young, a front row seat on what passivity in the face of Evil can produce.
God Blss him and Keep him.

When kids are sent to college,we send them to get an education and get a better life after we all are gone and our time on earth is over. They are sent there to meet professors like this noble person whom God has taken to heaven. If men like this man have to die at the hands of mentally disabled people like this killer I say let every kid on any campus pack a gun in his pocket or her purse. The VT establishment lost a fine man to a killer. If VT does not want to defend it’s teachers and students I say pack and carry. This way no shooter would even think of it because they would never know who is packing and carrying. If CNN and msnbc say no then let them defend people like this man and not let his light go out of the world. This comes from a Roman Catholic.

He got to die doing what he loved, educating and loving young people. May the Lord bless his soul in eternity.

He had seen the face of evil before. He recognized it again so many years later. Evil did not defeat him when he was young and it did not defeat him when he was old. He is the true embodiment of “Never Again.” And yes he deserves the Medal of Freedom. Obviously he did what many apparently can no longer do.
