Not everyone would agree with you. There doesn’t seem to be a political message. All indications are that he was a miserable nutcase that wanted to die, and go out in a big blaze of glory to teach everyone a lesson for his pain.

I also looked closely at the label NBC showed on their news program and noted the spelling in particular.
It clearly looked like “A. Ishmael” although the “ae” were sort of scrawled.

I believe that video has a photo of the actual envelope sent to NBC. I saw the envelope on MSNBC 15 minutes ago and could only make out the $14.40 he paid for postage - the other text was too small to see.

Yeah, and TWA 800 was brought down by those crazy Muslim terrorists who failed to take credit for it. A hallmark of these crazy Islamists is that they proudly take credit for the terror they cause. He was clearly a nutcase. See the 2005 voluntary admission to mental facility, crazy rambing about the rich, etc. There is enough Islamic terrorism in the world without having to assign every nutcase to the jihad.

While I of course agree with your general sentiment, to be perfectly accurate Al Queda actually had a policy for a long time of not immediately taking specific credit for stuff.
It does have all the trappings of the suicide bomber and their final statement, doesn’t it ... The simple fact that he made the photos, tape and wrote the manifesto says it sure wasn’t spontaneous, or a love quarrel for that matter.
This was a premeditated suicide attack, same as any terrorist suicide bomber anywhere does.
Now whether he was an Islamic terrorists, don’t think we can make that statement. But homegrown sort of fits.
