If the President did not go to the ceremony they would claim he was shirking his duty to mourn for the victims.

The third picture in this set is where the President turns to comfort a distraught relative of one of the deceased. The emotion overwhelmed him and he and the family were assisted by EMTs out of the arena.I am glad that you posted this very sad comment. I had wondered what was going on. Do you see someone's hand on GWB's arm? So characteristic of how people feel comfortable around him.
My heart is so burdened for these families.

Oh I didn’t even hear Rosie say that, but it doesn’t surprise me that they did. The left is so pathetic with their hatred

Thank you so much for that wonderful quote from our amazing President. He has had so much to deal with. My heart aches for him.

Is that the EMT with the badge on his shirtsleeve?
I never put the story together with the picture.
And you're so right about how comfortable people are to touch and lean on the President. It speaks volumes about his character, and his LOVE.

I was wondering when I heard that she attacked him today, what it must be like to be devoured by hatred of a man SO GOOD, and SO KIND.
She has to be the most miserable human being on the face of the earth.....

If you haven’t seen the Remembrance Ceremony, you can view it at
www.Cspan.org. Click on “Remembrance Ceremony.” In addition to the President’s comments highlights are the Governor’s comments (panned by many here on FR, but very appropriate and appreciative of President Bush’s help). The apparently spontaneous recitation of the “Lord’s Prayer” is a highlight, also. And the remarks and cheerleading by the school's poet laureate were certainly different. Finally, at the end of the ceremony (but not seen on the C-span tape), the students were asked to remain seated while the president, guests, families and podium speakers left. The camera pans over the student body - quiet, reflective, no talking or discussion, some hand-holding, motionless, silence...
