Gone to extremes, self remorse over one's actions can end up as suicide.

Which helps to explain the rumor, started in South Korea, that Cho's parents had committed suicide. It somewhat seemed to me to have the flavor of a wish on the part of many South Koreans that they would do so, to end the shame and dishonor they are perceived to have heaped on their country of origin.

I’m curious as to where in the article you see “afraid” mentioned.

Read the headline: Korea Fears...

I understand. Reading comprehension isn't your strong point. I'm going to stick with my tag-line for you and not argue about it.

I think that the only reason that Koreans fear an American "backlash" is because our good old MSM does everything within their power to communicate to the rest of the world how terrible we (the general public) are, how nobody's safe when there's been some sort of an attack, how racist, and willing to kill anyone who looks different. Remember, this is the same MSM who communicated to the world what a dunce we have for a president.

In reality, the US has by far the most tolerant population in the world. The Koreans wouldn't need to worry about a backlash until there had been say, a few hundred attacks like this.

“uh, yea, no more foreign exchange students... Save the slots for U.S. students...”

The third story, behind the big story and some other story is just that. This punk, despite being a killer, was a horrendous student, a poor writer, no creativity - just so way below average even average high school level...How in the blue blazes did this Korean resident take a slot away from and American kid. THIS IS A SCANDAL THAT EVENTUALLY BECOMES A STORY.

The blame sits on the youth who in the end shot himself. He was I believe on anti depressant meds.

I do blame what I have seen in asian parents the heavy stress they put on their kids to excel, and the shame they bring on their families for failing to do so.

Could have been contributory to this situation. The kid couldn’t fit in, and make the grade, so he went nuts. The antidepressants can cause the suicidal tendencies that ended this terrible thing.
