How sad. Looks like a sweet girl. Very pretty.
She's NOT to blame, stupid dumb-a$$ reporter!!!!!
She obviously wanted nothing to do with him, she was a pretty girl. She became the object of his fantasy, and she was a charlatan for not returning his advances and engaging in debauchery by being with someone else.
In his fantasy world, she and the world rejected his pure, loving soul and everyone else was evil, a phony, a charlatan, etc.
Shades of Richard Wade Farley stalking Laura Black, culminating in the deaths of seven in 1988.
Yeah - lets all stare at this girl and blame her for this.... she can’t fight back.
Tasteless.
It isn’t fair to plaster her face everywhere. This must be horrible enough for her without idiot reporters broadcasting her face all over the world.
The smallest shreds will undoubtedly be twisted into incredible conspiracies and foul ups in the next few hours and days, while everyone scrambles to “find meaning” in this tragedy. We can all brace for the usual anti-gun leg. being dusted off and introduced soon as well.
Sounds like it was If I can’t have her then no can type stuff?
I guess until the facts come out, we can dream up all kinds of scenarios.
I thought English majors in that kind of a situation were supposed to just get drunk and read Hawthorne.
This thread is in extremely bad taste; what if this was your daughter?
I really doubt that they had any kind of boyfriend/girlfriend relationship from the description of his personality from his roommates. The assumption early on that it was his girlfriend and that it was a jilted lover or whatever was way early. Its more likely since he lived nextdoor that he developed an obsession with her and was jealous and insulted that she dated others, and she probably had no idea he thought about her.
And in hindsight, had they known it was an obsessed weirdo nutjob type and not just an angry boyfriend domestic dispute they may have sought after him more or done more to secure the campus.
Helen of Blacksburg...
She probably smiled and said hi to him a couple of times while passing in the hall. From that, he built a fantasy world.
“I just posted the following on the newspaper comment section.
This is about the most base article I have EVER seen. This young woman was the love of her parents’ lives. She was their flesh and blood, her life has been snuffed out before it began, and your newspaper has the nerve to print this idle speculation??? There is no indication she was anything more than the object of a lively imagination. Of all the club-footed, ham-fisted open and obvious attempts to take advantage of and profit from a horrible, tragic circumstance, THIS ARTICLE IS THE BEST EXAMPLE THUS FAR. I hope bankruptcy is in your future from lack of interest in your sleazy rag.”
I think We can pretty much eliminate to *jaded lover* scenerio by the deaths of the 30 others. It just doesn’t make sense.
