I was put on ritalin when I was very young. Why, I don't know. I was taken off forever soon as I started hallucinating tiny people working their way out from the grout between the tiles in the bathroom. That was about 1966/67, I was born 1962.

Thanks to the divorce, I enjoyed (NOT) 20-25 years of clinical depression 1970-1990-5ish never knowing what the problem was until years after it had gone away on its own.

I'm glad now I went undiagnosed and just suffered it. Messing with the brain/mind. Just not a good idea.

I feel like you survived a close call. Glad things are better for you now.

Depression is no fun. My heart goes out to you.

From the first I heard of the anti-depressants, I wondered what in the world the “counselors” were thinking.

I’m not a shrink, but this kid was not depressed, or at least he was not ONLY depressed. Schizophrenia? He was the right age for onset, and the symptoms certainly match.

Any Freepers who are mental health professionals care to comment?
