Killer's Note: 'You Caused Me to Do This'
ABC News ^ | 4/17/07

Posted on 04/17/2007 9:51:27 AM PDT by areafiftyone

April 17, 2007 — Cho Seung-Hui, the 23-year-old student who killed 32 people and then himself yesterday, left a long and "disturbing" note in his dorm room at Virginia Tech, say law enforcement sources.

Sources have now described the note, which runs several pages, as beginning in the present tense and then shifting to the past tense. It contains rhetoric explaining Cho's actions and says, "You caused me to do this," the sources told ABC News.

Sources say Cho killed two people in a dorm room, returned to his own dorm room where he re-armed and left the note, then went to a classroom building on the other side of campus. There, he killed 30 more people in four classrooms before shooting himself in the head.

Cho, born in South Korea, was a legal resident alien of the United States. He was a senior at Virginia Tech, majoring in English.

Sources tell ABC News Cho bought his first gun, a Glock 9 millimeter handgun, on March 13; they say he bought his second weapon, a .22 caliber pistol, within the last week. The serial numbers on both guns had been filed off, they said.

Authorities found the receipt for the 9 millimeter handgun in his backpack. They say it also contained two knives and additional ammunition for the two guns.

Legal permanent resident aliens may purchase firearms in the state of Virginia. A resident alien must, however, provide additional identification to prove he or she is a resident of the state.

Sections of chain similar to those used to lock the main doors at Norris Hall, the site of the second shooting that left 31 dead, were also found inside a Virginia Tech dormitory, sources confirmed to ABC News.

No,
but I know conspiracy crazies because I grew up amoungst them and they used it as a way to hide from reality. So yes, I have nothing but contempt for that particular variety of loon.

And I’m well aquainted with the actions and behaviors of the insane.

So for me, it’s like “nothing to see here folks” except crazies who won’t see that well, crazy doesn’t explain itself nicely and wrap itself in a clean package. Sometimes, madness happens and there is nothing you can do to explain it away.

That is life.

"The .22 pistol has but two uses. Target shooting, and the traditional last shot to the head to perform a Coups De Gras."

On FAUX NEWS this a.m. one of the reporters referred to the weapons as a 9mm and a 22mm!

Probably the same reporter who asked a guest "How long is a long gun?"

"My guess would be the shooter heard the cavalry coming up the stairs and possibly was low on ammo, and decided to end it before they grabbed him."

The loud sound was the doors being blown open by the cops, because Cho had chained htem closed. Cho's shooting ended on, or about that time. No shots were fired by any police.

"The point I was making is that he didn’t “run around loose for 8 hours” as some have claimed."

That's right. He died before 10:15AM ET, shortly after he began the 2nd attack.

Maybe it was a reminder for him to ax Ismail a question.

" As much as it will pain some here who want more, I’m betting that the story begins and ends inside a damaged mind. "

You're right. That was obvious from the very beginning. He was turned in to the Univ conseling services by his English profs that considered him very disturbed. He also committed arson in the dorm. Here's a sample of the nut's writings.

Does the writing say "Ismail AX" or "Ismail AK"? For there is actually a Dr. Ismail Ak who is a Professor of Psychiatry at a university in Turkey. And his research interests include the following:

"Personal Disorders, Agresivve behavior and self-mutilation, ECT, Substance-related disorders, Sexual Disorders, Forensic Psychiatry, Sleep Disorders"

http://www.ktu.edu.tr/katalog/web/tip/2.html

Given this information, it seems possible that this disturbed young man may have known about the name, "Ismail Ak," by being referred to him or his writings for psychiatric help. And if he wrote it on his own arm it's very possible that the "K" of "AK" could look like an "X."

Then why come on a thread with people that you hold so much contempt for? Does it make you feel good to call them names?

I didn't think it was against the rules to post speculation on FR.

So for me, it’s like “nothing to see here folks”

Then why don't you move along?

We’re at war with an enemy that has attacked schools in the past, and made their intentions of attacking more schools in the future well known. We’ve found diagrams of US learning institutions in caves in Afghanistan. Last month, an FBI warning went nationwide alerting school officials to possible terrorist plots involving school buses. Last year, an Islamist student used an automobile to attempt mass murder at the University of North Carolina. Two years ago, two grown middle eastern men boarded a school bus in Tampa for no apparent reason.

The point is, when the news of this shooting broke yesterday, the logical first reaction of any moderately well-informed person should have been “is this terrorism?”.

So far, that question hasn’t come close to being answered. Therefore, the question remains.

And if connecting the name “Ismail” to the Koran is ridiculous, why isn’t connection the name to “Moby Dick” even more ridiculous? Which book commands its readers to carry out acts of violence and which one does not? Is there some sort of worldwide uprising of “Moby Dick” readers we need to know about?

I’m not sure about the ‘blown open door’ part, because as a rule of thumb you wouldn’t use an explosive for a breach. Usually it’s a ram or a halligan or just brute force. And from the way it appeared to be playing out, I don’t what use a flash-bang would be either. I think we’ll have to wait out the actual report to figure that out.

From the kid’s cell phone video, you can see all the deputies make a bee-line for the door all of a sudden, which would normally indicate there was no organized SWAT entry, because you generally get the uniforms out of the equation once SWAT gets involved. Very practical reason for that, the team members know what each other does and will do, not so with the uniforms.

That looked like sort of a cavalry charge to me, which leads me to believe they didn’t spend a lot of time waiting around before they went in.

Well... we’ll have it all when the report’s filed.

It’s sickening the way the media is straining to romantically link the poor girl (rest her soul) to this evil bastard. She’s wasn’t his girlfriend, this was not a lover’s quarrel or a domestic dispute.

The question is, why are they straining so hard? Why is it so important for them to convince us that this was a “jilted-lover”?
