I read the same Trib article and after I googled Ismail Ax and returned to the story the Trib had pulled the sentence referring to Ismail Ax.

Oh, come on. They just edited the sentence to make it somewhat coherent.
No, what they did was change the second paragraph to actually make sense. Read what’s posted at the top of this thread, then hit the link and check the revised article, and you’ll see that the original article’s second paragraph was nonsense, and had to be revised to indicate more clearly that “Ismail Ax” was on his arm, not (I guess) on the note.
