BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The suspected gunman in the Virginia Tech shooting rampage, Cho Seung-Hui, was a troubled 23-year-old senior from South Korea who investigators believe left an invective-filled note in his dorm room, sources say.
The note included a rambling list of grievances and ended with the words "Ismail Ax" in red ink on the inside of one of his arms.

“Psychiatrists describe depression as ‘anger turned inwards’.”
The anger turns OUTWARD in some of the depressed young on anti-depressants. They don’t get “happy and carefree” like a lot of older people on them.

Primary care doctors prescribe SSRI-antidepressants to millions of adults, adolescents and children, certainly not only for treatment of depression anymore. SSRIs are prescribed for school phobias, bed wetting, eating disorders, sleep disturbances (insomnia), nail biting, hair pulling, headache, gambling addiction, alcohol addiction, back pain, stomach upset, premenstrual syndrome, etc., and even to feel better then well. SSRIs have become all purpose feel good pills, nowadays, in the year 2000. Unfortunately many doctors are unaware of the major consequences and some of them dont even seem to care. They argue that the positive effects of SSRIs far outweigh their negative effects. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Kip Kinkel, 14, killed his parents and went on a shooting rampage at his Springfield, Ore., high school. He was taking Ritalin and Prozac.
Jeremy Strohmeyer raped and murdered a 7-year-old girl one week after he started taking Dexedrine.
Columbine High Schools Eric Harris was taking Luvox.
T.J. Solomon, 15, who attended Heritage High School in Conyers, Ga., was taking Ritalin when he opened fire on his classmates, wounding six.

Let us not focus on the guns and start focusing on the real killers of our young people. It is the drug companies.

Let us not focus on the guns and start focusing on the real killers of our young people. It is the drug companies.Has it ever crossed your mind, even for a brief moment, that people who use and are prescribed anti-psychotic drugs, are as a result, assumed to be psychotic?????
Would it therefore follow, that psychotic people are more likely to do psychotic things???
I would assume, therefore, that people who use these drugs would be more likely to do psychotic actions and say psychotic things.
Would you say that this analysis has some merit?

That said, the chances of an immigrant from South Korea succumbing to sudden jihadi syndrome are remote, although this "ismail ax" thing is sure strange. It will be interesting to find out who his friends were.

I know. I have noticed a growing trend in newspapers to allow ROP reporters to explain our news and culture to us. In Dallas, they assign immigrants to cover immigration stories, from the open-borders-for-all perspective, and they assigned two gay reporters to cover the “gay community,” including stories about (intolerant) people who didn’t want their kids recruited by gays.

Ismaels Ax (or weapon)?" Makes no sense, Ishmael was an archer. (Genesis 21:20)
The Koran has "alternate versions" of many OT Bible stories. These stories are twisted in odd ways. The characters are the same, but their roles and deeds are different. See my post #126 or the link two below your posting for the Islamic story of Ismael. In it the axe is the weapon used to smash the false idols in the temple.
I agree that it will be interesting to see what else is in his room and on his computer. If it is too inflamatory for the ROP we might not get to see it.

CORRECTION (I wasn't an English major):
"Ismail" not = "Ishmael"
"Ismial" and "Ismail" are both Arabic spellings of common Arab names.

Someone pointed out to me that the Columbine murderers' website was filled with many obscure references that were incomprehensible to adults who did not play online videogames - but those references were chilling indicators to people who were their age and who had the same hobbies.
Disseminating the note would enhance the quality as well as quantity of brains analyzing it.

According to my pediatrician friend, troubled kids can be suicidal or violent but are often too depressed to muster the energy necessary to act. As the Prozac begins to work, their energy occasionally comes back before the full anti-depressant effect kicks in.

Do you think it is out of bounds to find out if Islam played a role in this deadly series of events?
Yes, because it's not nice to make those poor Islamic people feel bad. After all, it's not their fault that their holy books instruct them to slaughter infidels and behead anyone they can find who won't submit to their pagan moon god.
They're just following their chosen religion, and who are we to say they shouldn't have that freedom?

Muslim connection or not, I wouldn’t be surprised if a leftist America-hating professor put evil ideas into the head of this nut job. The genesis of these ideas may be evident in the note he left. Which is why we will never be allowed to see it.
The university and the left cannot be seen to be complicit in mass murder.

Surprised nobody found
this page, where a similar-looking guy is refered to as "ismael ax".
