April 16, 2007 -- Katie Couric's plagiarizing producer has an identical twin sister - with an identical poaching problem, The Post has learned.
Melissa McNamara, 32, was axed from the tarnished Tiffany network last Monday night after it was discovered she'd ripped off a Wall Street Journal column for the April 4 installment of "Katie Couric's Notebook."

What I am not understanding here is why CBS allowed this fraud to be on the air. Couric is there reading something which is not her own as if it were. And CBS knows this, and pays someone to write it up for her. If her own memories of her life do not extend beyond her colonoscopy, why doesn’t she just read little cute stuff, but not pretend it is her own? And better yet, why is she still on the air? And why is CBS still on the air? Do they still have any viewers? Can someone help here?
Good old Columbia, where students choose journalism “to make a difference.” Sooooo many of these students... and not just from Columbia... would be far better served to just go into the field of “Human Resources” than to persue careers in journalism.
Now you're asking someone to explain the unexplainable. Just add it to the long list of imponderables that prompt one to think "Geez, who thought that was a good idea?"
They’re both pretty dim. Don’t they realize in today’s online world that it’s impossible to hide these literary thefts. I guess that’s what the Columbia J school is putting out these days.
And better yet, why is she still on the air?

Because to remove her would mean that the ‘suits’ made a mistake....and we all know that ‘suits’ don’t make mistakes. Just ask them.
Quick!, Someone find her an ADA lawyer.
Which one is real, and which one is the copy?
I’d hit either one. But then maybe I’d wake up in the morning with Helen Thomas.
CBS News was, er, still is, in trouble. Their viewership is quite literally dying off quicker than the other two networks, and Moonves&Co. thought that putting Couric on would attract the morning female viewers.
Well, that did not come to pass, and, it alienated a lot of formerly habitual viewers of the CBS News.
Now the stockholders are stuck with an expensive mistake, the sales force is probably up in arms, and CBS News just continues to get no respect, especially after more plagiarism charges.
With Schieffer, I believe he was holding his own at a reported 1/5 the cost.
A wardrobe malfunction couldn't save Couric at this point. Heck, I doubt anyone would even notice, except the Media Matters guys, and I don't think Couric is their type anyway.
My problem is that I can avoid most of CBS, so Couric as an anchor should be a "don't care" situation seeing as I gave up on CBS eons ago.
However, the "Katie Couric Notebook" would come on during my drive time radio listening, raising my blood pressure.
(Yes, I'd push in the cd at that point, maintaining a sense of calm)
Now I am beginning to wonder. Was that really her colonoscopy? After all, what we saw was Katie wriggling around underneath a sheet and then a video of a colon. The question now is whose colon was it?
I utilized CBS Sportsline for the Masters and thought I would check them out for MLB as another source for "Gameday" yesterday.
After the first inning of the Red Sox Angels game *POOF* here is a promo for CBS Evening News with Katie Couric done by none other than the sphincter-maid herself.
Deleted that from my "favorites" and sent them the following comment on their email.
Hey folks. I was just watching MLB on the Sportsline and between innings of the game what do I see?
Katie Couric SeeBS Evening News promo!
I definitely won't be using CBS Sportsline anymore.
Goodbye!
i don’t beleive it is plagerism to steal something that was written by someone else to be read by someone who is going to lie as if it is her own work. CBS has taken poor news reporting to a whole new level.
I don’t believe her real name is Katie anymore.
LOL!!!
Couric Defends Self in CBS News Plagiarism Scandal
The revelation that CBS News anchor Katie Courics video essay on libraries was found to be plagiarized from The Wall Street Journal has put the low-rated newswoman on the defensive. The video essays are carried regularly on Couric & Co., the anchors blog on the CBS News web site. The offending, unnamed staffer has reputedly been fired.
Couric called the firing inadequate. I am the real victim here, Couric insisted. My reputation has been grievously damaged. Viewers need to be able to trust me to speak the truth. That trust has been undermined by an ungrateful bitch of a staffer who has carelessly abused the privilege of writing my commentaries.
CBS brass was forced to admit that Courics essay did not live up to the networks standards. The reminiscing Ms. Couric mouthed in her video essay was fake, but not accurate, Sean McManus, president of CBS News, conceded. Ms. Couric doesnt really give a hoot about libraries. We shouldnt be too hard on her, though. She is no Dan Rather. She is relatively new to CBS and obviously needs more time to fully absorb our culture.
A quick poll of the six people who actually heard Courics essay while it was posted on the CBS web site found that the most common complaints were not based on the fraudulent nature of the piece. The bit was dull and sappy, said viewer Brooks Perlin. Its not the kind of peppy commentary I expect from Katie.

In all fairness, she did share her colon with the world so they do have something in common...
No wardrobe malfunction here. Her wardrobe is working fine.
How the Hell did this get my corporate firewall?
