To: I still care

“I have to admit I have no respect for Islam as a religion, and actually consider it more of a cultural slavery than a faith.”

***

That’s just it — what these folks are doing is using their religion as an excuse to get out of doing certain things or to do certain things differently from what company policy dictates. When you are about to take a job, you should have some idea about what the job requires. If those requirements are contrary to your faith or whatever, and you don’t feel you can work within those requirements, then find something else. Why should you or your group or class be given special treatment to the detriment of everyone else?

Well put. I have no sympathy for the cabbies or the pharmacists. One has the right to practice any faith they like, and pay the price when it contravenes social conventions or common sense.
