Its worth remembering less than 5% of the total living population in this country has served in the military. Using it as a ‘benchmark’ is ridiculous as it relates to hiring a President in my opinion...

Well, perhaps, but IMHO it counts big time when service is done in times when a nation is relying on a draft to fill its military ranks.

Serving always ‘counts’ with me as well...but it doesn’t supercede anything, just adds a very postive dimension.
