The Wolfowitz Set-up:Just Say No
The American Thinker ^ | 4/17/07 | Clarice Feldman

When it comes to media reports of bad conduct by Administration officials and appointees, it is a good idea to Just Say No to the first accounts you read. Chances are the story was cooked up and peddled by political partisans (often one way or another funded by George Soros) or that disgruntled bureaucrats leaked to a lazy, gullible, if not complicit, press.

The media conniption fit over Paul Wolfowitz' supposed "conflict of interest" at the World Bank is a prime example. Based over on claims by disgruntled staffers, non-government agencies and some World Bank officials, the Financial Times painted a very skewed picture of Wolfowitz' role in the resolution of a personnel matter involving his companion, Shaha Riza, a long time Bank employee of note whose continued service the Bank determined would constitute a conflict of interest once he took over as President of the Institution, and called for his resignation.

Folks, there is a concerted effort to smear and destroy everyone in the Administration and the press is playing along. Don't jump at the bait. Wait a few days for the facts to catch up with the torrent of lies.

I think we should defend the good ones and be critical of the self-dealers. If we don’t, the Dems will eat us alive for our double standards. They aren’t fooled and neither is middle america, They know self-dealers when they see them.

That said I am all for getting all the facts out. The more the better.

Already posted this in another thread about this vicious political attack, but it’s worth to repeat IMO:

This is a very bad attempt at a smear. Whatever you think of Wolfowitz, he explicitly announced this relationship before he took up his job. A dutch politician (Melkert) was the head of the ethics committee which was installed to advise mr Wolfowitz how to handle this correctly. Wolfowitz followed the advice of this committee, and now they try to portray it as if he acted immorally. Whoever created this smear needs to be punished.

And as extra information, this dutch politician Melkert, the head of the ethics committee advising mr Wolfowitz, was bound to be the successor of our socialist Prime Minister Wim Kok in 2002. Melkert was massively impopular, so he was promoted away by his political friends into the EU. I hope it can be proven he started this smear, or aided it, I have a big grudge against him.

I would pop a bottle of expensive champagne if Wolfowitz manages to moves the spotlight onto Melkert’s role in this smear. The PvdA (the political party of which Melkert is a member, socialists) is currently under heavy fire already in the Netherlands.

God bless Wolfowitz.

Don’t forget that they already try to put words in Wolfowitz’s mouth that he never said :

I wish I could say "Prost!" or however you spell it, but your wish would require a fair dealing mainstream media and that isn't in the cards anymore. I do hope Wolfowitz sits tight and maintains his rightful spot without yielding, but expecting the media to aid him in anyway is wishful thinking.

I think his enemies have lost this fight. Now the Soros jackals and their friends will leak a series of nasty bits to keep trying to further erode his reputation.

Well this does put the spotlight on Melkert—check out the last WSJ editorial which does just that (It’s linked here . All the documentation is also linked in the Fox piece which is also linked here.)

The people who are getting the smearing has done something to deserve it. What in the world is he doing giving his girlfriend a high paying job???? That would be a negative in almost every area of business.

Soros must be the most influential person in the history of the U.S. I hear his name on most of the threads here. Maybe he should be the one to run for President. He certainly is talked about a lot by FREEPERS.

What in the world is he doing giving his girlfriend a high paying job????...Because the ETHICS committee told him it was alright, she already was an employee and this would preclude him playing “favorites”. This was a set up from the beginning since he already advised them he wanted to recuse himself from QANY personell issues. Read it.

The truth is, he funds countless operations designed to undercut this administration and the US. And they are well-connected with the media .
