It seems the Massacre at VA Tech (where I went to school briefly) was premeditated. The reasons are clear in the latest reports. First off the man took a gun to confront his girlfriend, who was more than likely trying to get out of sufficating relationship (I have seen this pattern before, but with less violent results). When he did not get what he wanted and an RA came to deal with the commotion the man pulled his gun and killed the girlfriend and RA. This means the man planned the confrontation and brought the gun with him.
The second act was also premeditated since the man came with guns and clips and the ability to chain the doors (when I was there there were no chains even wrapped on the doors to close them). Finally there is reporting that the bomb threats in the prior weeks were tests of the response time of the authorities. Combined with the news the man was a 24 year old from China shows a combination of military training (not OUR military lefties) and planning.
What really worries me is if this was a test for other attacks. If the man was testing College responses then the key would be to make this look like anything BUT a terrorist attack. I am not making the claim here this was terrorist related, but the man did not seem to be looking for his girlfriend’s lover, he seemed to be out trying to kill anyone he ran across. A perfect diversion for a test run would be a lover’s quarrel. And ending it in a ’suicide’ negates the ability to get to the bottom of his motives. Of course violent jealousy is not uncommon, and more so in male dominated societies like those in Asia and the ME. In those places killing women is like throwing away property. But something is not right here. For someone who was in the emotional throws of jealousy, the attack shows signs of careful planning and cold execution. The two characteristics do not mix. Careful planning and cool execution implies a lot of self control and discipline, things which are in complete opposition to an out of control act of rage.

There were his comments and then people from all over the place (around the world) were posting comments. There was one guy from Canada that took the opportunity to post that the U.S. might want to consider controlling guns better than they do.
I posted back, in answer to that, that perhaps if it had been legal to carry on campus, that someone might have gotten that guy and prevented all those people from being killed.
I pointed out that no matter how illegal someone tries to make guns, the crazies and the criminals will manage to come up with illegal guns and still kill people. I said it wasn’t the legal-carry-people who are the crazies and criminals doing the killing. I said that they are probably the ones who will save people before the police get there.
Don’t know if that will get through to anyone... we’ll see (see if I get blasted, too... :-) ... ).

From the eyewitness testimony we are hearing, the death toll could have also been much higher had not some of the students barricaded their classroom doors preventing the assassin from entering their rooms. Some students also jumped out of windows. This could have been much more horrific.
Personally, I think the board of Regents needs to change their ruling that VT students can’t keep a gun for protection. After all everyone else in Virginia can carry concealed with the appropriate license.
I believe the other individual then in the woman's room is the "person of interest" the cops have referred to.
All of this is a distraction for the purpose of drawing in the campus security force AND the local cops who deal with such things.
Guy then slips out, acquires the rest of his weapons, his chains, his battle fan and so forth and slips across campus to a classroom building, that is Site #2.
He simply waits for off-campus students to arrive, chains the doors shut and starts killing people on the second floor (where it is harder for his victims to escape). He must have already known that the university had not devised a system for informing off-campus students of disturbances on-campus, nor did they put out guards at the main entrances to turn them back until the problem was clear.
It's the old "distraction trick" ~ the idea is to draw off the authorities to a minor event while you pull off the big event elsewhere.
Most people don't buy huge amounts of mags for their guns unless they're engaged in competitive shooting like IDPA or IPSC -- or they're pre-planning on doing a lot of shooting for other purposes

Either that...or force Feds/local legislatures to confiscate private guns....making it less problematic for any type of foreign invasion...
Of course it is both. Rage is not just conflagration and a single act. Rage can be cold, premeditated and well carried out.
My guess is he was paranoid and cold. And a failure as a student.
I wonder if when they do we'll discover he's a Muslim?
Have you noticed how the finger pointing about what the school should have done began within 8 hours of the shooting before the bodies were even cold?
I'm getting really, really sick of Whorealdo too. He's worse than UpChuckie Schumer in terms of getting in front of a camera.
I bet that they are not that concerned about the 'poor kids' who are in the military. They get shot at, see their friends die, and are killed on a regular bases.
It is a shame, and it is horrific that somethinng like this could happen. Some teachers and students fought back - blockaded doors to protect those in the classroom. At least one professor, a 75? yo Israelie, died while his students lived.
There is a training course/video being offered to schools (some here in TX) about how to protect yourself if a gunman comes in the classroom. I wish more people would learn to fight back and protect themselves and others. One person with a gun should not be able to kill that many without someone taking him down first.
Nope. Soldiers aren't cold blooded killers. You're thinking of terrorists.
Unbelievable, still no confirmation of the shooter. No name for woman killed in dorm. No one interviewed with any first hand knowledge of dorm shooting.
Are you a soldier, or do you know any? Go to Fort Benning and find a 24 year old Infantryman. I highly doubt that young man would be able to line up a bunch of college kids and execute them with cold blooded efficiency and an expressionless face.
Oddly enough, there was another bomb scare at OU this past Sunday.
